Amazon experience. The spot is the best thing that you would have in Guatemala travel.

We hiked through Wicho & Charlie. It was an amazing experience, but one of (if not THE) hardest things I've done. Look at the weather report, but prepared, and don't underestimate this hike.

Did the hike to the volcano, one of the hardest in my life but I was worth it. Stayed at base camp for the night. See the volcano erupted so many times, incredible views.
I even proposed there 🤩🤩

God this was a tough hike but the views up top were truly beautiful. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see Volcan de Fuego erupt although it was so active the night before. Overall, great experience but incredibly challenging.

Wow, this was a once in a lifetime hike up an amazing volcano to see some amazing views. We saw Pacaya in the background with lava flow and Fuego explosions all night with lava flow. We hiked overnight started at 10:30 p.m., our tour guide made a fire at the camping area and we stayed warm for 2 hours. Then we hiked to the top for sunrise. We were very cold and it was very windy. The hike was extremely tough, we walked a total of 14 mi (22.5 km) and finished at 9am. Highly recommend it, but the most important thing is to have something to keep your hands and toes warm!

One of Guatemalas most beautiful volcanoes. The hike up to Acatenango is gruesome but not impossible. I’d highly recommend people to do this if you’re visiting Guatemala. It’s definitely a memorable experience. Just amazing!

A very challenging climb but worth every step. Definitely doable solo, but recommended with a guide of doing an overnight as the path to the summit in the morning is difficult amazing experience

I went up during a storm and it was a little rough. The clouds only parted enough for us to see the volcano explode twice. That was totally awesome when it happened though.

I went with guilmer and soy and they did a wonderful job. Food was great and they even gave us some nice extras like hot chocolate made from chocolate bars. Would definitely go with them again. Guides didn't speak the best English but very friendly and some of the group spoke spanish which they translated for us gringos.

The hike to the summit was a little anticlimactic. Gale force winds with no explosion. You couldn't peak over and watch the sun rise with out freezing your ass off. If it would of exploded while we were at the top it would of totally been worth it.

The only thing I didn't like was the organization of everyone when we were summiting at 3 in the morning. Probably 150 people doing it at once all stuck in a line on a small path. Everybody trying to pass everybody. It's dark so easy to get separated from your group. The only suggestion for guilmer and soy is somehow try to make that a little more organized. Also they do have a slight trash problem around the base camps. Maybe try to use less disposable plates?

Hike is super hard and you will get very dirty and everything you take will smell like smoke etc. I stunk up my dorm room on my arrival back. Glad it's over but definitely glad a did it.

One of the best hikes and views I've had.
Quick recommendations if you are going to fuego volcano after:
1. Take cash. And take extra bc probably someone will not take theirs and it will be easier if someone lends the money that to convince guides that they will pay at their retur to antigua.
2. Take a good kn95 covid mask. The road there is full of ash/dust/dirt and it's super uncomfortable to walk while inhaling that.
3. The usual, take many layers for the freezing cold at the top. (but do not wear them while hiking. Terrible mistake bc you will sweat and then, when you stop, the sweat gets super cold.)
4. If you have it, take a small tripod for pictures. The cold makes you shiver and makes it hard to take a proper picture.

Im so glad a spontaneous trip to Guatemala got me here, it reallly is a must see and do!

Be warned, you have to be relatively fit, its not easy, but really, anything in life is not rewarding if it's easy

Try to book through soytours who is a local provider or second just book through your hostel

The most beautiful climb! Very tough hike, if you're slow could take the whole day, sun rise to sun set. Even for a seasoned trekkers I found it challenging as it's constant incline with no flat. But worth it. Great fun.

Just a tough and relaxing place for a long hike, not for everyone. My first time but not the last, the view in the highest point is out of this world.

The volcano hike to camp and the summit can be difficult but it's 100% worth it. Do it with Soy Tours, they are the best hands down. Their guides are super friendly, the food they provide is the best and the campsites are the best. You also help the local community by going with them as they use the profits to give back to the community. The hike up to the camp takes 5 to 7 hours then you wake up at 4:30AM and hike 1.5 hours to the summit stay there 30 to 45 minutes hike back to base camp, eat breakfast and go down (2.5hrs). Costs 350Q for the tour and 50Q for the entrance to the volcano. Bring warm clothes and rain clothes as the weather is unpredictable. Watching fuego erupt is quite the thrill but you'll see for yourself.

It's a tough hike but absolutely worth it! It can be very cold at night but I would recommend doing the 2 day tour. The sunrise is breathtaking!
I went with some friends without a guide. If you feel fit enough and you have the gear you should go for it. There are different paths but they all lead to the top. There are enough people on the mountain to ask anything.

A once in a lifetime experience. If you can make it to the top. Do it for either sunset or sunrise.

What a hike! This is a strenuous hike through deep shifting volcanic sand and pea sized gravel, but SO worth it. The view from the summit of Acetanango is 360 degrees of beautiful and majestic, with a front-seat view of the grumbling rumbling Fuego. We went up and down in one day in March, meaning it was not hot season, and we should have had three liters of water per person. (We had two, so it wasn't terrible, just a little thirsty and dry at the end).

An extremely difficult climb. The views are worth it though. 13,000 foot elevation, the last few thousand feet are thin air and many people need constant breaks.

A pretty hard climb, up to 2500m of climbing from the start to the peak.

But the great views at the top are worth it!
