Basilica St. Mary

Very nice ruins of a 6th century build Byzantine church. Very nice and quiet place, the tourist train does not stop here. So visit by foot, bike or golfcart

At Mary's Basilica on Veliki Brijun dates back to the 5th century. It's walls are still preserved almost to the original height. It belonged to the Knights Templar in the 13th century, until their abolishment in 1312. It is a part of a larger complex of Byzantine Castrum that features findings from the periods of the Roman Republic and Empire, Byzantine Empire and the Republic of Venice.

A beautiful piece of history

Luogo suggestivo, merita una visita. I resti sono consistenti e si respira un'atmosfera unica di pace e spiritualità. Una bella testimonianza dell'architettura paleocristiana (e di quei sarcofagi per cui l'Istria è famosa).

Schöne Reste der Kirche, die sich im angenehmen Schatten befindet. Es lohnt sich hinzugehen. Der touristische Zug hält da nicht an, so dass man dahin zu Fuß laufen muss. Es sind aber nur 20 Minuten vom Hafen.

Crkva sv. Marije najdugovječnija je kršćanska građevina na otoku. Sagrađena je u 6. st., a brojne dogradnje i natpisi svjedoče o uporabi sve do 18. st. Ostaci crkve nalaze se u hladovini, idealno za odmoriti i poslikati tu atrakciju.

Kicsit eldugott rom.

Krasno mjesto, od 6. stoljeća ocuvana do danas. Vrijedna hrvatska baština. Svakako posjetiti kad ste na Brijunima.
