Falling Lakes Hostel

Great hostel for exploring Plitvice Lakes National Park and surrounding area.

Me and my partner stayed 3 nights in the 10 bed dorm.

The hostel is a 5 minute walk from the Korenica bus stop.

The staff were friendly and very informative!

The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable with charger ports next to each bed.

Great kitchen facilities that make it very easy to make food.

The hostel helps with transport to and from the lakes and also inform you how to find some of the more local walks.

Great value and could not recommend more highly!

Great vibe and respectful guests (perhaps by virtue that it is not in ‘Plitvice’ but you’re still able to get to the lakes).

The kitchen is very functional with plenty of space, so it doesn’t feel awkward to cook a meal beside your fellow guest.
The common area too is well-shaped and encourages conversation between guests.

You can also undergo a steep (!) 7.5 hour hike to the Bosnian border from here. If you’re on the fence, just do it because that abandoned army base is so interesting. And kudos to the hostel, as I would’ve otherwise hiked this on my own!!

Located in the town of Korenica, conveniently on the Split-Zadar-Zagreb bus routes. Hostel is walkable to the bus stop, markets, restaurants. Affordable and convenient shuttle to Plitviče straight from the hostel. Clean rooms and facilities. Cozy, friendly environment in the common areas in the evenings. Option for group hikes in addition to the lakes. Staff is helpful with providing guidance for navigating the lakes, exploring surrounding nature, local amenities, and navigating the bus system.

This is the perfect hostel if you want to visit the Plitvice Lakes. We visited in May, and there was a daily shuttle bus to the park at 8am. I believe there is a shuttle every half-hour but don't know if this depends on demand. It's only 3.50€ each way and takes about 15 minutes.

If the weather is nice you can also do some other hikes. They seem pretty well established and worth it if you are there for a couple days.

I had a private room that was basic but comfortable, though the pillows could be better. But the price is great and the facilities are top notch. The whole placed is clead well every day, I really rate it well for cleanliness.

The kitchen is big and stocked for whatever you might want to cook, with a supermarket about 7mins down the road.

The staff were great. Friendly and always available if you had any questions. One of them really helped me out and went above and beyond what he needed to when I found myself in a tough situation.

Overall I can't think of any negatives. It was easy to meet people as the common room and kitchen facilitated conversation, I'm sure the summer months it can get quite busy and even easier to get to know people.
If you want to visit the Park, I highly recommend this place.

Good points
One of my favourite stays ever! From the start staff were friendly, helpful and around all the time.
The hostel is clean and tidy, no shoes around the building and the cleaning is done regularly and thoroughly.
Everyone was super sociable and so friendly.
Loads of information about local activities, advice and a shuttle to take you to and from the local main activity (Plitvice National Park).
Rooms were very spacious, huge under bed locker to store all items and lock them away, plenty of space in the room. Lights and plugs at the bed.

Toilets and showers were spacious, loads of room, clean and tidy. They were individual showers, so loads of space to place items etc.

Bad points
The kitchen was pretty messy, not the staff's fault but people weren't cleaning up after themselves.
I paid for the hostel to do my laundry, it was quite expensive (80kuna). I didn't get my washing back until over 24hours later and it was still damp. A little frustrating when I was told I would have it back early evening the same day.

Showers were very low pressure.

Lovely Hostel! Did a sunset hike with others staying there and it was nice to meet people from all around. Rooms were great with restroom/shower in the halls. You have to take off your shoes which honestly made me feel as if I was at home. Would stay here again!

This was the best hostel my friend and I stayed at. Immediately when we walked in the staff was so friendly, they gave us a tour of the hostel and gave recommendations about the national park. The kitchen was a great size and fully equipped with anything you might need. The common area was super nice, had very quirky decorations and a big table which was used for a lot of socializing after a day of hiking. Bathroom was clean and showered were nice, we stayed in the mixed dorm which was very spacious and included a big drawer under each bed where you can lock up your belongings. Although our shuttle experience wasn’t perfect (we had some issues getting back) as soon as we addressed the issue management took action right away. Overall our stay was amazing 10/10 would recommend to stay here.

Clean house/rooms/bathroom, friendly staff.
Kitchen could be more clean/tidy, but that really depends on visitors. Appliances not fully functional.
Internal common area cannot accommodate all visitors, but great outdoor common area.
Some rooms don't have heater/radiator.
There could be more hangers and shelves in (bath)rooms.
Off the main road, but close to center. Not much parking options.
Possible excursions and transportation services.
Conclusion: great place that needs so little to be fantastic.

What a great place, very well maintained, clean, quiet & comfortable to ensure good night’s. Spacious rooms with adequate number of washrooms, well equipped kitchen and patio area. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Great spot to visit Plitvice from, but there are also other things to do in the area - various hikes or kayaking. I liked the village of Korenica as well, good amenities, plenty of bakeries and cafes to have a lovely time having breakfast overlooking misty morning mountain views.

Really enjoyed my stay at Falling Lakes hostel in Korenica. The hostel is clean and well laid out, and the rooms are spacious. The personnel is very helpful in sorting out your your trip to the lakes, a hike to Pljesevica mountain, or doing some kayaking. The hostel features a communal area with a kitchen to prepare your meals and eat all together. There are a few hikes nearby, you can find them on AllTrails or Komoot app. Enjoy!

Great hostel with a lively atmosphere. Daily hikes and group activities are organized to help people socialize. Large common areas, with helpful and friendly staff.

A great place to stay if you want to check out Plitvice before the day-trippers swarm the place. There are cheap shuttles from the hostel to the national park starting at 8:30 in the morning.

They also have kayaking and other trips leaving from the hostel.

Best hostel I’ve stayed at so far. Great atmosphere and so easy to meet people. Loved the organised activites, especially shuttle to Plitvice and kayaking. Recommend especially for solo travellers!

I spent 2 days in Falling Lakes Hostel. I had a great time there. It’s in a good position for Plitvice Lakes. The hostel is nice and clean. Luca, the manager, is really kind and friendly. I appreciate the tips for lakes and rafting ride he gave me.

An acquaintance in Australia recommended me this hostel, where I stayed for 3 nights. I have stayed at hostels for 30 years now. This hostel is in the Top 3!! It has all facilities you need, fantastic service regarding excursions and very friendly staff. The rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds. A fantastic bonus is that the hostel takes great pride in their cleaning. It's SUPER clean! Would highly recommend this hostel! Thank you for having me

Fantastic hotel. Staff knowledgeable of the area and activities promoted by the hostel such as kayaking and 2 great hikes you can do from the hostel. Family dinners were a great addition highly recommend staying an extra day or 2 in summer to see the lakes and either hike or kayak!

As an explorer, here's my spin...
Clean, spacious (4 person room) and a great stopping point for our travels. One thing about this town is the restaurants seems to close early around this area, but the hostel does have an outlet for in house guests (did not use on this visit).

I had the best stay at Falling Lakes. It was right at the end of the season, but the vibe was still fun and social even with fewer guests. Fantastic hikes, well-equipped kitchen, and good location near Plitvice. I would recommend this hostel to anyone looking for outdoor activities or a nice place to relax. Thanks for everything!

The owner Luca is incredibly nice and will help you with anything, because it's in a small town it has quite a social vibe, as everybody is staying in in the evening, they offer a shuttle to the NP in the morning

Incredibly friendly staff, clean rooms, large kitchen, and a decent sized common area. All smoking is done on the patio. They have a shuttle van that will drive you into and out of Plitvice at an affordable and fair rate (only twice a day).

They also have a couple hikes that you can take from the hostel in Korencia; one is with a guide from their hostel and the easier one is done by yourself. If you're planning on doing the guided hike, make sure you have appropriate footwear as one of the girls on my hostel was denied.

Private room was spacious with decent wifi connection. Bathrooms were clean. Would definitely recommend and stay again if I find myself in need for a hostel in the area.

Falling Lakes is a fantastic hostel. It is quiet and relaxing, but still a great place to meet people. The group dinners were really fun. The shuttle to Plitvice made visiting really easy, and helped to avoid the crowds. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking to see Plitvice and encourage them to stay an extra night to hike to some other places in Korenica
