Imperial Fountain

An interesting, although a bit neglected and forgotten place. A piece of interesting history

The Imperial fountain was built in 1546 and was used to supply Venetian ships and local population with fresh water. It is located on the sea promenade Kolovare in the city district of Arbanasi.

The Imperial fountain was built on the ancient site during the Renaissance period, which was very rich in water resources used by the locals and supplying ships. The fountain has been thoroughly renovated in the 18th century when it was built in stone in front of the stone pier.
The fountain is a circular building with a vaulted brick ceiling (880 cm in diameter and 795 cm high). One part of its wall is open to the sea, and decorated with pillars and arches of finely carved stone. A well in the middle of the fountain was built in the shape of an irregular octagon, while the beautiful stone pier extends in front of the fountain.
Even the Renaissance authors Petar Zoranić and Juraj Baraković were inspired by the glory and beauty of the fountain, from which we inherited beautiful words about this monument.

This is a place where nobles from nearby villas where sharing gossip and daily lifestyles experiences, especially in the sunset that is gorges from there.

Wow ein sehr schöner ruhiger Ort… man kann von hier sehr schön ins Wasser stiegen… zwar benötigt man Strand Schuhe oder andere Art von Schuhe aber das Wasser wirkt sehr klar und laden einen sehr ein da rein zu springen

Bel édifice. L'eau du bassin intérieur est toutefois affreusement sale : déchets et détritus y flottent. C'est regrettable et donne vraiment une mauvaise image
