Nice to have place like this, they help for poor birds, you can see there 🦅🦆🕊🐥🦢🦉🪿🦚 Almost all type of eagles.
You can spend there about 1-2 hours. Also you can see surgeries if you there on the “right time”

I visited in February and the whole thing was so educational and interesting. Straight away the first thing you see are the storks near the entrance and the sound of all the different birds.

Upon entering, the staff were really nice and explained the way the whole thing works. I got to then start walking around the seeing all the different birds. They have a long hallway at the start where they have a bunch of information written down about each bird and they are kept with their own species. As it was explained, they only keep the injured birds there before letting them go to the outside exhibits or releasing some of them into nature.

Sometimes, if you time it write, you may even witness one of the staff in the little operating room working on one of the birds, helping them out.

Then while visiting the outside, there are several different species of birds and at that point, it was feeding time for some of them. The birds seemed accustomed to their temporary lives there and might have even formed some connections with the workers.

I love how a bird hospital like such has been made into something like this that people can visit to help fund it and also learn more about the birds. It was super educational for me and I would imagine people who love bird watching, learning about birds or simply taking pictures would be delighted in visiting. I won't lie, even a beginner photographer such as myself managed to take some lovely pictures.

I was working with them several times. It's a really nice and patient team. The crew there is kind and they show you everything. You can talk to them, they will help you immediately. And also don't forget that after all they are saving hundreds of animals life. It was a pleasure being there. Thank you!

The tour was amazing! Very informational specially on how birds were recovered from an accident.

This is a great place. It is good to see the resident birds and the exhibits in the museum. They do great work nursing injured and sick birds back to health and looking after those who cannot go back to the wild. They have a large number of white storks, who are real characters, as well as many other species. It is very educational. The admission charges are very reasonable. They have nice things in the shop. Please support them if you are in the area.

Very nice place. I would say it is expensive at first, but the price you pay goes directly to help injured birds so it is actually worth it.

It is impressive to see so many bird varieties in one place.

Kids playground is very special, too.

My son loved it..... we found it interesting but the tour was really long. But my 11 years old was really into it!!

The hospital for endangered bird species is located in Hortobágy, very close to the Nine-hole bridge (Kilenclyukú hid) and the Hortobágyi Csárda.
At the entrance there are a few storks. They stay on the grass. It seems that they feel comfortable here and don't fly away.
There is a small museum at the entrance. There are stuffed birds arranged in their natural landscape.
The hospital itself is populated by its patients, birds with injured legs, wings or beaks. Also, some of them got electrocuted.
In some cages, there are more birds. Some of them are tied by a string so they don't harm their cohabitants.
The main building has a dark history, it has been used as a communist jail for political prisoners.
We had the chance to talk to a veterinarian working here. He explained us that there is an entire network of bird hospitals in Hungary.

Great location, run by an excellent team under supervision of the superb veterinarian Dr. Janos Deri.
I was a lucky one to spend some days there and I could admire the important work of those people. Great from a vets point of view, but also in terms of conservation biology.
This work really makes a difference!

Helpful staff, spectacular rehabilitation areas, great work helping the various species in Hungarian ornithology. The playground is pretty cool too.

Amazing place. I expected few birds here, but the lady at the reception told us that they have more than 700 of them. Most of them were going through a long rehabilitation already, but still gave enough work for the small team (8 permanent and volunteers).

There are a really lovely bird hospital in Hortobágy, Hungary. This place is close to Hajdúszoboszló or Debrecen. You can flight straight away from Luton airport to Debrecen airport. The bird hospital helps a lots of injured birds year by year. I support them.

A beautiful place with many birds to see and enjoy. So nice that there is a free part as well, and it's always good to gone our friend Negro, the crow.

I realy like how they are healing these birds and teaching them to not fly on the electrical wires!

It was a heart-warming experience. Birds are safe at this place and you can see how the doctors are working.

The staff of this bird hospital is doing highly valuable work. They genuinely give about birds. The staff is very friendly.

An excellent day with the kids. Very cool how they take care of the injured birds and that they have a home. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous raptors exhibited in a hospital created for their preservation. Well worth a visit!
