This place is amazing. I have been to many Cafe Frei in Hungary and this one is just amazing as others. This is more awesome as it’s located inside a bookstore - Libri so you can enjoy your coffee, read book and relax. The place is really cool. There seems to be many people especially on weekends and evenings but the service is just great. The staff is fast and the place is always clean. It has wide selection of coffee and cakes. My goal is to try each coffee available. 😂
Beware that some coffees have alcohol. This is a self-service place so you have to order at the counter, make payment and they give you number. When your number is called at the screen, go and take your coffee. Send back your cups at the counter once you’re done. I recommend for anyone who wants to try different kind of coffee here.

It's great coffee as always. The idea to bring coffee from different corners around the world is fabulous. My fave is the Yemeni spicy one.

It's inside of libri book store, so the atmosphere is very pleasant. The coffee is great and exclusive from many parts of the world. The prices are accordingly about the double of other cafe.

Is there a more creative selections of coffee to be found anywhere....? This place is great just make sure you have enough time to read the menus!

This is a bar where they serve only coffee and some cakes. The focus is on the coffee.
There is a huge selection from all over the world.
There is no waiter out waitress. You order at the counter and when your number is shown on the monitor you go and collect your order...

We just love it for two (rather obvious though...) facts: very good and exciting coffee options and it's in a middle of a bookshop! Just one little advice to staff: SMILE sometimes, that can make miracles happen :)

To be honest, I didn't think much about Cafe Frei for a really-really long time. I thought it is a bigger, marketable version of those small "indie" coffeeshops. I thought it's just a stupid franchise / hobby of a traveling businessman lacking real quality and uniqueness. I felt like it tries to be a specialty coffeeshop. And to be fair, I was wrong. Though I still maintain the "more profit, less art" view of the whole company, I find myself happy to visit this place each and every time. Tha coffee is good sometimes - and sometimes it's amazing - and even I'd say there are times when my drink is mediocre. But the atmosphere in the bookstore is really good, and there's such a big variety of drinks that I don't get bored reading through the menu even if I am reading it for the fifth time in that week.
So all in all it's a good surprise.

Cafe frei in my eyes is one of the best places in Szeged to grab a coffee and an assortment of other drinks. Firstly, the price of drinks is absolutely affordable and the variety available is great. It is my go-to place and I recommend it over the mainstream coffee shops.

Such a cozy, chill place. You need to try the Nicaragua tobacco coffee, it's exceptional!
