A lovely place where one can spend time watching blue tailed Bee eaters, green bee eaters and many other birds.
Please make sure you are seated in one place and avoid walking around continuously as this disturbs the birds. Try visiting early morning around 6:30-45 and settle down in one spot outside the fenced area. Do not enter the fenced area as you will put the nests in danger.

The place is on the banks of river kaveri. And this is a bee eater bird reserved place. This place is particularly made for photographers in an another way naturally. I have seen a many photographers who were visiting during the time. There are many species available here at one place makes them advantage. But make sure you have sufficient food and beverages for the day to keep continuous of photography. The villagers are very friendly in guiding us to the location. The forest man who is looking after was also friendly in nature. He was cleaning the reserved ground for birds since the make nest in ground.

Really it's a bliss to watch the birds and they're simply fantastic. I always enjoy watching the nature at this place. I always kindly request the visitors not to disturb, not to litter, avoid smoking and drinking and also avoid throwing plastics.

Great work by the Karnataka forest dept for setting up a barb fence around the sensitive and important nesting/mating area of blue tail bee eaters.
One can watch these birds do various activities on different perches.

To study the behaviour of bee-eaters, it's a best location. Kindly do not disturb or litter. We could find lots of plastic and cigarette butts all over the place. Also avoid going alone.

When you take your bike out, just go where your heart takes you and this is the place you come across. Totally calm and even on Sunday there was no one around. Must visit

This is a secret place where most of the people aren't aware of. It's quite difficult to trace the 'green bee-eater' bird. It's usually not crowded even on holidays. The public has taken advantage of this place and started nuisances like drinking and such. Not recommended for families. The road to this place goes unnoticed making it hard to reach. But it's worth visiting here.

For a bird photographer, bird activity is important to understand it's behavior. The banks of river Cauvery in this location is excellent as these blue-tailed bee eaters are always on the move. Really hectic action and requires skill in capturing interesting moments

Beautiful place on the banks of river Kaveri for bird and nature lovers. You can see lots of Green Bee eaters and Blue tailed bee eaters here.Tthe place was barricaded with barbed wire and rock pillars which has got damaged on two sides due to recent floods.Aust visit place for bird photographers with ample opportunities to click these beauties in close range. This place is near to Srirangapatna on the Bangalore Mysore Highway. One important thing to note is the provided Google map location will take you to the other bank of the river. So if you are travelling from Bangalore make sure that you cross the river and take a left turn after the Ranganathittu junction. From the Ranganathittu Junction I guess the left turn is a kilometre away.Once you take the left turn proceed further as the road goes through a village. There will be a deviation to left, landmark of which is an SBI branch or ATM.Proceed straight and you will reach the banks.Early mornings or evenings will be better even though one would see bee eaters throughout the day.All the best and enjoy nature.

Great place to visit for nature lovers and birders. Approach is narrow mud road through agriculture lands. Could be difficult during rainy days. Ideal time for photographers is just before sunrise. They'll have to carry seat and umbrella for longer sessions as there are no trees along the fence.

Very beautiful place for bee eater photography, other species also present. Currently it's start of season due to which you will see very less birds, end of December and January will have very good numbers.

1 st point : For Photography it's the best place
2nd point : people near that area are so jealous because this place is in there area . So they come and tease Photography people mainly youngsters will rag you by drinking alcohol and other stuff
3rd point : Forest department is too worst there Because they Where not maintaining properly
4th point : these birds leave in ground not in the tree
, Some local people leave there and 🐦 will run away so leave that property for birds . This has to be taken care by forest department

Only for serious naturalists and bird photographers.
- Getting here isn’t easy. You need to have your own transport.
- Although it shows up on Google maps, you got to wing it to get here. We got lucky and reached there on the first try.
- Absolutely no commercialization around
- Riverside reserve
- Completely cordoned off area that protects the natural habitat of these bee eater. Barbed wire fence that you would have to shoot through.
- Small plants at 2-3feet height are placed inside the fenced area. The birds sit on these and wait for the insects to fly by. Refer to one of the pictures i have posted.
- The birds come land close to the fence quiet often, so wait for the shot. Recommend that you use a gimbal mounted on a tripod or at least a tripod to shoot.
- Carry a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water.
- Please don’t leave anything behind. Take back everything you brought with you. Your waste included.
