A beautiful temple in Nagamangala dedicated to lord Krishna in the form of Soumya Keshava. Temple is beautiful. Temple opens only after 9.30am and stays closed in afternoon. No words to explain the ancient architecture of the temple. Lord Krishnas idol is also very beautiful. Temple visit is peaceful. Parking space is very good.

Beautiful Hoysala temple in Trikuta style. Rare idols of Krishna-Rukmini-Satyabhama. Keshava idol in Soumya mode (Chakra and gada in left hand) is eye-catching.

This is such a calm place to spend any time of the day in.
Evenings are even beautiful and serene
There's something about this temple.
The temple staff is very friendly and explains the significance and power of the each diety inside the temple.
Photography is not allowed inside the sanctum.
Outside is very nice to click pictures and sit for sometime peacefully like it is meant to be.
They offer prasada(holy food) as well.
Tap and toilet is outside the temple.
Although there is a well inside the temple premises, water is not portable.

The Saumya Keshava temple is situated in the town of Nagamangala, Mandya district. The temple is three shrined (trikutachala), has a garbhagriha (sanctum), and a vestibule (antarala) that connects the sanctum to a closed mantapa (inner hall, navaranga) which opens into a large pillared gathering hall (mahamantapa).

The Saumya Keshava Temple was built by the Hoysala kings in the 12th century. During the Veer Ballala II, Nagramangala flourished as an agrahara, a place for Hindu religious studies.

This is a huge Hoysala era temple that needs more maintenance. The timings were little different, the priest came only around 10am to open the doors to the courtyard and the sanctum. It’s an active temple where people come for blessings of a special kind that the priest and caretakers would gladly explain to you. The deities are beautifully decorated and the sanctum walls are intricately carved but the outsides are rather plain. The pillars in the courtyard are worth noting for their depictions of the stories

One of the majestic and magnificent temples. This temple is true to its word. The place around the temples are well maintained and it is also cleaned. The staffs are very friendly and also helpful. Soumyakeshava Temple of Nagamangala , an important Vaishnavite pilgrimage site, was built in 12th Century during the reign of the Hoysalas and hence the main part of the temple has typical Hoysala features like the stellate plan , the jagati platform , typical Hoysala pillars in the navaranga , and the trikuta plan( three celled sanctum) . The front /entrance mantapa and a huge multi tiered Gopura are post Vijayanagara features . The tall stone compound gives the temple a fortress like appearance and the monolithic Garuda Kambha is impressive. The lovely temple is maintained well , all festivities being conducted in great pomp . The metal vahanas are very beautiful . It is very easy to locate the temple because the vast campus is right in the heart of the city . It is also a Protected Monument under The State Archeological Department .

Visit to Nagamangala where there is an ancient Trikutachala temple built in Hoysala style where main deity is Sowmyakeshava and other two deities are Krishna flanked by Rukmini & Sathyabama and Lakshminarasimha. The inside of temple has many beautifully carved pillars and roof. In the main roof there are carvings of Shanku, chakra and on the centre a divine Naga is carved surrounding the shanku, the head portion is treated as Rahu and tail portion Kethu. There are Naga idle made of Saligram Shila and Adishesha idol for which Pooja is offered to dispel Nagadosha. People also offer Pooja for Rahu and Kethu.
Because of presence of Nagamandala the town derived its name as Nagamandala which in time became Nagamangala
