A grand and lush green tiger reserve located at the India-Nepal border in the West Champaran district of Bihar. There are more than 40 Royal Bengal tigers in the jungle and their population is gradually increasing. One can do Jungle Safari on a Camper except in the rainy season. There is a hanging bridge too where you can walk.

For accommodation, there is this Jungle Camp which is kind of a resort where you can get rooms to stay. The mighty Gandak River is majestic in all its glory during the rainy season. There is a dam built on the Gandak river which connects Nepal with India through road. One can take a permit on the border itself and visit Nepal by their vehicle and explore few temples and Triveni in Nepal.

There are few places deep in the Jungle where you have to walk and go like Nar Devi Mandir, Jatashankar and Valmiki Aashram. It will take time to walk and reach these places. Avoid with kids. Keep the distance from monkeys too.

There are small eateries located within the reserve. However, to have proper lunch, you have to go back to the main market.

Overall it’s a boon for the people of UP and Bihar that such a natural, peaceful and picturesque place is present in the vicinity.

Request to all the visitors is to respect the wildlife and do not litter here and there and keep the place clean.

A place to be remembered as a one which gives you immense peace and Adventurous to reach this place makes it more exciting. The spiritual power which is present in this place from Ramayana and Mata Sita, how she lived in this place with her children Lav and Kush makes us to feel more about her and difficulties she faced while living in this place, though those difficulties would be more at that time in comparison to present but It is worth to visit and pray at this place.
and also people tie kush plants here in order to have Mannat. Jai Shree Ram

Situated in the valley of the Himalayas, Valmikinagar Tiger reserve offers a refreshing detour to the nature's bounty. The forest is abode to diverse species of birds, animals and trees. Spotting a wild animal in the forest depends on your luck... But birds and monkeys will surely offer their greetings to you! We saw monkeys, peacocks and birds like long tailed white birds, kingfishers. There are numerous termite mounds. Valmiki got his name from these termite mounds.
The staff is very cooperative and gentle. It is a must go for nature lovers.

Beautiful place and people! My heart is so full after visiting VTR! The staff is really welcoming and hospitable. It is safe for women travel groups. Animal sightings during jungle safari are uncertain but the kindness of people and nature will win your heart. Package tours available on the website provide more than the money they take. My friends and I created some memories we'll cherish forever! 😇

Excellent place for short visit. It's near Gandak and the other bank of Gandak touching Nepal. Good scenery and great location. In Nepal side a good Vishnu temple. There is Valmiki Ashram. The tiger reserve is less rich and minimum chances to locate wildlife.
