Golden Sand velankanni

During our journey to Madurai, we opted to take a night halt, and were surprised to see a hoard of hotels and homestays at this unusual location. Later we realised that Valankanni hearts a Christian Shrine which is frequented by Christians. Though there is no restriction of followers of other faith to enter the shrine. This hotel is neat and clean and service is good. The only hitch, that we always have felt in Southern Region, is the expectation of tips at every stage.

it's ok if the room is just gonna be used as luggage storage and then proceed for the church mass and other activities.

The maintenance staffs were very friendly and helpful. Their service was great.

Restaurant food is good but complimentary breakfast has same option everyday.

Good place to have rest near velankanni church. 5 min walking distance from church. Clean and good rooms. Space for car parking is available. Moderate rate for rent.
I reached there 2 o'clock in the morning and still I got rooms there.

A bit of a walk from te main churches. Use autos- those are rockets there. Be careful not to hit one.

Well cleaned and well maintained rooms. In house resturant and juice cafe available. Also small Shop also available for basic necessities within the hotel.its very near to church and 700 metres from Railway station. 100 mts from bus station. Multiple options in rooms and tariffs.

The rooms were maintained good and you will have people to do all the services needed at your door step...it might be costly but you will find it peaceful. The restaurant inside is good for sea food lovers... others find other nearby restaurants and you will find many to serve you...while you are going out handover the key as you won't miss it in the crowd or beach....

Golden Sand has 2 types of rooms runs by two group of people... As soon as you enter the gate on your left hand side, you will find Budget rooms, they offer you rooms as AC and Non AC... AC cost you between 1k to 2k ... And non AC cost you between 500 to 1k . These rates are based on season's and availability.
Room are pretty decided for a day Or night stay... Beds are little uncomfortable but the toilets are really maintained well... I would 5 start for the toilet alone.. Apart from the in non AC rooms there is no tele service provided apart from that I can say these rooms are pretty decent.

The second type of rooms are on your right hand side... Reception itself will tell you that these are luxurious room.. The have only AC... Rooms are awesome, rates are from 2.5K up to 6k , new building well maintained and you can dine in, they also have the Fish Land restaurant located in the same venue... Overall this is a best hotel in Velannkanni.. Very close to Bus stop and railway station, very close to church both old and new church... But far from beach, but you can hire a auto at just 50 to 100 rupee cost... Best location if you want to stay here...

Nice place to stay in a tourist spot, stayed here for 3 tymes. Satisfied for a stay for a one day. Clean environment inside the campus and the room was well maintained. Still the AC is quite older, worked good without any queries. Family can stay with no questions here. Calm and quite ppace nd good service porivided by the hotel staffs as well. The restaurant is also attached to it, so tat we don't wana go away for food and other stuffs, and the room serves is good.

Very nice hotel staff were courteous and rooms are fine.
Food is normal, taste is not as expected .
We have placed order for prawns masala
Hardly we find the prawns it is not shrimps they are very tiny.
Over all is ok
But it is recommended to stay for family.

Excellent location, service and the rooms are huge and extremely comfortable. The food at their restaurant is extremely tasty, hygienic and great service. Keep it up..

This hotel is very close to the main church, an ideal location for pilgrims visiting velankanni. Hotel rooms are affordable for a family , clean environment with excellent room service. Restaurant within the hotel is clean ,serves Kerala meals too (PN : food taste is just okay, but beef fry is good). Hotel rooms near the beach is congested & far from the church. If you are visiting the place , do check if there are rooms available here by calling the reception. The reception is at the right side of the main entrance (I found 2 entrnces).
Hotel sea gate also has AC rooms, with TV, mini fridge ,a locker and safe cupboard with hangers.

Very good restaurant Fishland below the hotel itself. Good food and soups.

We had a comfortable stay.Highly recommend this hotel. Staff is extremely courteous. The meals in Fish land restaurant is scrumptious😋

Located near Velankanni bus stand. Walkable distance to church. Neat rooms and toilet. Customer friendly service. Restaurant attached. Better to use the same restaurant. Affordable pricing. Hardly 10 rupees extra when compared to local hotels around Velankanni. But the restaurant is very neat, less crowded, good quality food and proper air flow. Local restaurants are very crowded, hot and lo quality food.

Highly recommended. You can use the restaurant even if you are not staying here. Will stay here next time and whenever i travel here for sure.

Although I read several reviews about the place that were difficult to accept, I decided to book the place for my parents and it was one of the est decisions ever: Not only was the hotel close to the shrine , the support and room staff was most helpful in all ways. Bus stand for Parveen travels was just next door from where they got a bus to chennai that was booked online as well: kudos to th staff and also to the support staff for all their efforts in making the stay comfortable and pleasant:

Very clean. Problems is with the waiters. They all stand in a row for tips. Sometimes immediately after check they all hide away to avoid petty supports.

Excellent location near the church, good clean rooms, good room service. Nice place for family. Restaurant Fish Land was good limited dishes but tasty food.
