Awesome beach. Suitable for peaceful walks. Calm environment and only less shops are available near the beach.

Excellent beach..... Doesn't have many food stalls or any juice shops...
There are many dried fish shops ....
Culturally a very significant place.... The ancient port of cholas and it is associated with events in silapathikaram....many places here are currently under renovation ......
There is usually a good crowd and the beach is usually busy.... The beach is clean and there are warning signs against swimming.... The beach is a rock beach mostly.....
It is the place where kaveri drains into ocean

Poompuhar Beach, also known as Kaveripoompattinam, is a picturesque coastal destination located in Tamil Nadu, India, along the shores of the Bay of Bengal. This serene beach holds historical significance as it is believed to be the ancient port city of Poompuhar, mentioned in Tamil literature and ancient texts.

The beach offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is characterized by golden sands, gentle waves, and the soothing sound of the sea, making it a perfect place for relaxation and contemplation.

Visitors to Poompuhar Beach can enjoy long leisurely walks along the shoreline, take in breathtaking sunsets, and marvel at the vastness of the ocean. The beach is relatively less crowded compared to some other coastal destinations, which adds to its charm and peaceful ambiance.

A prominent attraction near the beach is the Poompuhar Maritime Museum, which provides insights into the maritime history and cultural heritage of the region.

Overall, Poompuhar Beach is not just a natural beauty but also a place where history and nature converge. It offers a serene and culturally rich experience for those seeking a quiet getaway by the sea.

The place has all the vibes to be the best beach with an art gallery, library, variety of shops and peaceful beach experience. But it lacks maintenance, tourists should be mindful of how they litter.
Best time to visit is 5pm to 7pm. Very relaxing and not so much crowd.

The place is sooo nice. We loved the climate and the rocks available in the beach. It is a good place to spend time over there. Poombukar is the oldest town in the world. This place describes about the life of kovalan and kannagi which is explained in silapathikaram.

Good place to hangout for 3 hours either in the morning or evening. U can walk up to lighthouse and have a great view. Museum and other stuffs are not maintained due to COVID. But those who visit Thirukadayur or Vaitheeswaran Kovil must visit this place without fail.

This shore was once used as a port for international trade by Chola dynasty in the Sangham Period. Tamilnadu Government has taken great efforts to restore many places and developed many monuments and museums to spread the importance of the city.
Good place to spend time with friends and family, good for riders too, as the road to this place is quite good and with less traffic. Best choice for weekend get away, and located on the ECR road makes it easily accessible.

this place is way good to visit but got to get it maintained a little bit there are museum in entrance and lot of shops which sells the dried fish and at the center you can see the statue of the women kanagi at the end you will have to be safe about the rocks over there but if you go to the left side of that you will have a nice and soft sea shore to walk around from there you can see the harbour and you will have to watch out for the crab and stuffs which might bite you and finally this place is good to visit one of the ancient port in Tamilnadu

A good historical place to visit. But this place is not well maintained. But in Poompuhar everyone know that this place is a historical place in Tamil Nadu and when you enter into Poompuhar you can see seperate entrance for Pandiyan, Kovalan, kannaghi, Silapathikaram, arch. But those arch are not well maintained as you cannot see letter in that arch soo clearly. I visited Poompuhar just 2days before and it's not well maintained. The o ly thing you wanna visit is the Poompuhar beach.

The beach is a great place to go if you're looking for peace and quiet because it's less busy than some of the other well-known beaches in Tamil Nadu. The beach is renowned for having breathtaking sunrises and sunsets that are breathtaking to witness. Views of the Bay of Bengal can be enjoyed while having a leisurely stroll along the beach.

The beach is renowned for its natural splendour and historical significance because it is thought to have served as a significant port during the early Tamil civilization.

The beach offers a delightful view; however, it is unfortunate that the old buildings and the nostalgic memories associated with them are missing from this place. On the bright side, the roadside shops demonstrate the locals' earnest efforts to earn a living. Whenever you visit such places, please consider supporting these small local businesses
