This temple is in the midst of coffee plantations and is about 110 kms (2.5 hrs) from Mysore. It is built in traditional kodugu settings and is well organized.
It has lot of parking spaces at the entrance as well.
Tickets for homa/entry should be taken before 11:45 am and then they will allow people in batches of 30-40 after some wait in the sitting area.
After the initial darshan, we have to wait for 30-45 mins for prasada. This is followed by lunch (free) in a hall which has capacity of about 275 people.
A good place worth visiting with family!!

Powerful place. This god is famous for protecting humans from Pancha akalika Mrutyu ( 5 types of untimely deaths). This temple has 800 years of history. It opens at 9 AM and closes at 1 PM. Maha pooja will be held at 12 PM after that they allow devotees inside temple for darshana. If anybody needs Mrityunjaya homa or any other types of homa, they must be take tickets before 11:30 AM (refer image fare for each homa ). Better to visit this place in private vehicles as there is limited govt bus daily from Gonikoppa (9 AM). Parking and restroom facility is good. Anna Prasada is at 1 PM. Lord Mrityunjaya 🙏

The most beautiful temple of Lord Shiva. I don't think we have other Mruthyanjaya temples in South India.
In other temples I enquired in kerala , they charge around 7000 to do a Mruthyunjaya Homa, since that's a unique Pooja and it requires a lot of things to do.
But this temple have Mruthyanjaya Homa at just ₹100 and Maha Mruthyanjaya Homa at just ₹2000 as this temple is just meant for this Homam and Rudrabhishekam.
Also we have Food after the Pooja , which is extremely Delicious
Temple is wide spread with all facilities and clean and tidy.
On the way to temple we have beautiful Tea estate scenery and white water rafting. This is the only Tea estate of Coorg.

On 1st January I went here, it's over crowded, the management maintained very examplery discipline but some tourist don't understand and preasurising to get in overtaking the others. Since 1991 I am visiting this temple which was very silent place and the powerful place. Devotees must maintain discipline and silence inside the temple.

A very clean and well maintained temple. They also have very good system for crowd control which i was really impressed with. The floor is also painted with some kind of reflective coating which keeps the place always cool. They have plenty of seating for people to wait for their turn.
The deity Mrityunjaya swami holds great importance for the devotees. The darshan time is between 9:30 and 11:45 am. The homa goes on till 2pm. Annadaana (lunch) happens after that.
Devotees have to wash their own plates before and after having food. There is a very neat system in place and i hope it continues.
Plenty of parking space, although open air . Toilet available.

This temple is very old temple and highly spiritual. This place is close to Virajpet. More closer to Gonikoppal. The road is OK for car. The temple timings is 9 am to 11:45. The ticket counter will close by 11:45 am. One has to collect the Mrityunjay homa ticket Rs.80/- during this timing. At about 11:30 the priest will take all the devotees to Maha Vishnu temple first which is close by. After performing Abhisheka and pooja to maha Vishnu, all will be coming back to Mrityunjay Swami temple. Devotees have to sit for some time till their turn. The priest will call people in batches. 30 people per batch based on the tickets issued. Each one is called in sequence and the priest will chant mantras while the devotee will have to move the grass and coconut over the head and put that back in the bin. The grass will be put in homa. After this the devotees are asked to go out and wait outside the temple. Again they are called for final darshan and to collect coconut prasadam.
After that every one will walk to free lunch at Annapurna dining hall. After the launch each one should wash their plates with soap provided and place it in the stand.
After this people can depart.
There is good parking place and it is free and safe. There are rest rooms for men and women. Two petty shops for snaks.
