Local famous Devi temple. Very busy during weekends and Dec, Jan due to tourists. Plan on weekdays to visit. Kalijai temple, Narayani , Bhagabati temple and Salia Dam can be visited in one day. Parking is a problem here as the road is very narrow. Buses are stopped approximately 1.5 kms away and has to walk, not very convenient.

Chilika Lake is a famous tourist destination in Odisha and while it’s magnificence is unparalleled, there are several gems nearby that one should have it included in the itenary when visiting the Asia’s largest lake. One such gem is the Maa Bhababati Temple in the town of Banapur.Maa Bhagabati is the presiding deity of Banapur and is a famous landmark in the state of Odisha. Banapur is a small town and since we were on a road trip from Bhubaneswar to Chilika , the driver was well aware of this place and we did not have any issues in reaching here but apparently there is good connectivity available to visit this temple from different parts of the state as well which we did not get to explore much
It’s inner piece and a powerful aura is what one can feel in this temple. The prayer, the hymns all add to the grace. Just the sight of the Goddess even if it its a glance reverberates a sense a calmness and its beautiful just being here. Spend some time around the temple and just soak in the moment. After such a blissful experience, when we stepped out of the temple, we realized there was a small Lord Jagannath temple adjacent to the entrance and it was just a perfect way to end the visit here with blessings, peace and spirituality off the highest form

Banapur bhagabati is one of the most Popular Sakti pitha in odisha .
Well connected to NH 14. Single road way to the temple and parking is limited.
Everyone should visit once in life time.
But parking not good very high cost and behaviour very bad .

The temple of the goddess Bhagabati, it is in banpur town. Once Banapur was the capital of the Sailodhvaba dynasty, responsible for the construction of the early group of temples at Bhubaneshwar. The large number of Buddhist images discovered at Banapur relate the place to the Vajrasana cult of Buddha.

Bhagabati Temple is one of the famous Shakti Pitha of Odisha. The temple was built in the 9th century AD. Godess Bhagabati is also known as Maa Mangala. Another attraction of Banpur is the Shalia dam which is only 2 km from the Banapur Bhagabati temple.

An ancient and powerful shrine also known as one of the Shakti Peeth.

The Priest of temple easily identify the outsiders and force the pay money in the name of Maa. So beware of all this thing.

The place is very calm and spiritual. For anyone visiting chilika from Bhubaneswar and having some time in their hand while returning surely should visit the place. It falls on the way back ( though 4km inside from the main route). Please be noted that the route from the main road to the temple is cluttered and their isn't much lighting on the primary road to the temple. Hence please try to make it to the temple before sunset.
