Temple with Inscriptions, Lavana as displayed by ASI display board. Have sent edit of name to Google and is being reviewed. Got confirmation mail of acceptance. Thanks google.

Alternatively this place is popular as Kaleshwari Mata Temple among locals.

An 15 th century rare temple where idol of Shiva as an goddess is worshipped. Unique!

Place is on Google and easy access by road at some 160 kms from ahmedabad.

The pillars and slabs have been reinforced externally and remains of inscriptions and idols are minimal.

Visit to believe.

It was an amazing natural retreat and a historical place. There was greenery, mountains, and at a long distance you can even enjoy the view of a lake.

The sculptures were from the Mahabharat times and a bits of information about them were written on sign boards as well.

It was very beautiful, soothing, and calm place. A must visit.

And also there is water availability outside the temple only and inside there is vast ground the explore and some steps to climb to see the temple at the mountain top so be prepared accordingly for your trip.

One of the historical place of pandavas built by them and dedicated to goddess kaleshwari. where it is believed that Goddess Kaleshwari performed the marriage ritual of Bhim and Hidimba.
You will find footsteps of Hidimba with temples of God Shiva and Goddess Kaleshwari along with Arjun chori, sasu ni vav and vhu ni vav.
Very calm and serene place.
Beautiful place for a short day trip and family picnics.
Tents for night stay and a food stall also available.

Originally a Shiva temple buily around 1000 years back. Somehow locals covered the idop of Shiva with chunari/saree and started calling it Kaleshwari. Look at the idol and one understands that its Shiva , not a Devi(Goddess). The old idols in the temple area carved out of stone are really beautiful. The Mother in law and daughter in law steps wells are fascinating. The small lake in the premises proves that the ancients had good ideas of building such phenominal structures. Worth visiting

The Kaleshwari Group of Monuments also known as Kaleshwari-Ni Nal , is located near Lavana village, Khanpur Taluka of Mahisagar district, Gujarat, India. It is near the district headquarters Lunavada and near a stream in Hidimba Van, the forest of Hidimba. The group includes intricately-carved temple ruins, two stepwells, a reservoir, structures with panels of erotic sculptures and idols scattered all over the site. The ruins are located at the foothills and on the hillock. They were built between the 10th and 16th century; some monuments were reconstructed after the 18th century. These are State Protected Monuments.

The old temple exudes a timeless charm, carrying the weight of centuries in its sacred walls. Stepping into its hallowed grounds felt like a spiritual voyage, connecting me with generations past. The intricate architecture and weathered sculptures are a testament to the temple's rich history. A serene sanctuary for reflection and reverence.

We reached kaleshwari at the time of sunset. But if you want to explore this place properly, you should spend atleast 2-3 hours here. There are many archiological buildings like stepwells, arjun and bhim's chori, temples and kund. 3-4 stepwells are there but you cant see each one of them as each one have 200 steps! U will see the ruins of this place everywhere inside the campus.
