Tipu Sulthan prayer Masjid

It is said that Tipu Sultan used to come to pray at Masjid-i-ala or Jama masjid. On the roof, there is probably a clock but to see that you need to climb a pillar.

I visited here few days ago.This is a mosque where Tipu Sultan came for Namaz pray.I went inside to visit this masjid. There was a security guard who gave permission to visit and to take pictures.I went on roof where Namaz is prayed.I took pictures and spent few minutes.This mosque is known as Masjid-i-Ala(also called Jama Masjid) is a mosque located inside the Srirangpatna Fort in Srirangpatna  in Mandya district  in Karnataka. It was built during the regime of Tipu Sultan  during 1786-87.The place where Tipu Sultan found dead, is near to this mosque.I travelled,I learnt...Sometimes traveling helps you to understand history that is better than read books and to remember.I just love traveling.I want to travel all over India before i die.

JAMA masjid or Masjid e Ala or jamia masjid is an historic mosque which consists of many age old historical walls,doors and abulation wells(which is now prohibited from using) as per rules and regulations of department of archaeology.

All the inscriptions inside the masjid are in persian letters which mostly translate about it build and the builder himself TIPU SULTAN.

The Namaz's are performed here till date and the timing of Jumma'h namaz is 1:45 with khutba starting from 1:15

All visitors are welcomed here but the prayer hall is prohibited to enter except muslims who come to pray inside.

It's a place of historical importance. The mosque where Tipu prayed. There's a huge well for water for ablution. There are 2 minarets with spaces for pigeons for them to sit,the Hyderabadi mosque has 4 minarets. There's a ground floor and a first floor. There is a kitchen quarters. For ₹50 a guide will explain the history. No entry fee here. In the first floor one can find a sun dial which was used to tell prayer times back in the days. The mosque is still functional and attracts a big crowd every Friday for prayers.

This masjid is designed with interior Arabian arts. Now also Muslims can do prayer and there's many students studying Islamic Studies.
