Ghora Katora lake

No words to describe this place just serene and scenic. A must visit in winters. This place usually have less crowd and people can usually boat around the lake.

It is believed that the horses of King Ajatshatru used to drink water here. The shape of the lake resembles that of a horse and the lake is surrounded by mountains on three of the sides. A statue of Buddha sits in the middle of the lake. The 70 feet tall statue is constructed of 45,000 cubic feet of pink sandstone. The lake is around 6. 5 kms from the Vishwa Shanti Stupa and only battery operated vehicles are allowed. They charge Rs.100 per trip. Contrary to lot of other reviews there is no cafe or rest room nor any rest house.

This is a calm soothing place. In order to reach there you have to an e-rickshaw from the entry gate to reach there passing through woods to reach a place where you can see a lake , few boats and a statue of Lord Buddha. This great combination screams calmness and soothness of nature and it's beauty. There is also a park and washroom are also available. The boating ride is everything to chill and relax and enjoy. Highly recommend for nature lovers.

Buddha's statue is so beautiful to view from river side....the river cover from three mountain and the statue is in center of river making the view so attracting and mesmerizing.....take some biscuits for birds they will give you good attention

There is a big statue of Lord Buddha in the ghora katora and water is filled under it and you can roam on the boat by paying a fee of ₹ 40 and there biscuits are available for small children which are expensive there. It is a bit costly and electric rickshaws ply there but the budget is too much to travel. Tnq 👍

Ghora katora means you will have take (Ghora)horse cart to reach the lake( katora ).
A must visit place if you're coming to Rajgir. Situated and surrounded by beautiful mountains. Presence of Lake and lord Buddha inside it gives a heartwarming feeling for the location.
You can also enjoy boating.
The spot is very nice and beautiful greenary is there.
You can do pedel boating here, There were a lot of people waiting for boating, where it feels like there were no other tourist place in bihar.
Loved the calmness of the lake and the beauty of the surroundings.The natural beauty here is worth seeing in the middle of the mountains, it is absolutely mesmerizing.
Personally, the view would be nice after rainy season, where you enjoy greenery. And the sunset time would be best,

One can take E- rickshaw from the gate to lake (distance-6kms) for Rs 100/passenger. Pedal Boating is available for half an hour for Rs 40(Feburary 2021).

At Last I would say...It is Switzerland of Bihar... Extremely beautiful....seneric mountain and a amazing lake...Don't forget to enjoy boating...!! Lord Budhha statue situated in mid of the lake...!! Amazing views...No any vehicles allowed to reach at Ghora Katora...Only horse cart allowed to go there...It is approx 6.5 KM from Ropeway point at Rajgir...!! Must visit...Overall amazing place for family...!!

This place isn't crowded like other tourist destinations in Rajgir. The place is picturesque with amazing views, and a lake surrounded by mountains. There is a grand Buddha statue in the middle. You can also do boating here. There isn't any time limit for boating.

Visit this place if you want to avoid the usual tourist bustle. Parking place is available here.

It's a beautiful lake to spent quality time when at rajgir, centrally situated big statue of buddha makes it more magnificent. Enclosed and surrounded by mountain adds to it's beauty. Very well maintained by bihar tourism department. Sitting area with bamboo chairs are there to enjoy peace arround. A park is also maintained and developed for recreation with good civic amenities. Boating facility is also there to enjoy lake.

Worth a go!
Recently then have opened an Eco park which is nicely maintained and hoping it continues to be so. It’s good place to relax & chill. Boat ride does not dent your wallet and Bihar govt has made available E-vehicle to reach here from Rajgir and it has a fixed rate.

Ghora Katora lake, don't follow google map. It will not help to reach you exact location.
I am repeating don't follow google map. It will lead to you some soily surface road. Which is not the exact road. Before turning from Rajgir more must ask from the locals for the path which will reach to ghora katora.

This lake is really Beautiful, with Buddha Statue in center of lake. You can ride boats here, enjoy your day here. Its awesome during September season. Litttle rain, favourable weather, and enjoy nature between mountains. Boats charges per person ₹40. You can book Battery rickshaw to arrive at this destination.

Spectacular Lake view surrounded by mountains with a big Lord Buddha statue in the center. I found this place very quiet and peaceful.
One can do boating in the lake(40 rupees per person).
One can go to this place by E- rickshaw ( 100 rupees per person).
If you planning to do boating then do not go alone(atleast 2 including you).
There is timing restrictions as well that is you will not be allowed after 3 PM so plan it accordingly.

Beautiful place. It is situated 7 km inside the jungle. Only battery e rikshaw is available to visit this place. Fare is seperate from entry fee . approximately 120-150 rupees required per head. Boating is not going now. Lord Buddha is residing inside the lake with very good scenic beauty
