Amazing and Divine temple! Very big pond as well filled with water!

Absolute must visit if you are planning to visit that location. Not crowded as well on a weekday evening.

Well maintained & peaceful murugan temple with lot of parking options.

Normal days will be fine. However, it is a very popular temple & so It can get a lot more crowded if you visit during festivals like Thai pusam and waiting time to enter the temple can easily be in hours. During that time, cars will also be asked to park before entering Ettukudi which will be a good walk of 1 or 2 km to the temple.

There is also an Edumban temple to visit which is located immediately outside the main murugan temple within a few steps distance.

The temple is more than 1000 yrs old. The head of the peacock in all Murugan temples is seen facing the right side. However, in Ettukudi, it is seen facing the left. A Siddhar known as Vanmeeka attained samathi here. There is a separate idol of Lord Shani beside the navagraha.

Divine powerf . Sikkal , etukudi and engal Murugan temples are made by same sculptor . Knowing this king took his eyes in sikkal n hands in etukudi then after praying to Murugan bhagawan , he got it back at engan temple .

Powerful Murugan temple in Delta district....It is one of the three temples built by same sculptor other two located in Poravacherry and Enkan...
the sculptor who sculpted the idol of Murugan in this temple was the same person who carved the sculpture at Poravacherry near Sikkal and Ettukudi. Upon sculpting the idol at Poravacherry, the King cut his right thumb so as to ensure that he would not create anything anywhere which would surpass the beauty of the image at Poravacherry. After sculpting the idol at Ethukudi, he, however, found the idol excelling the one at Poravacherry in beauty and hence the King blinded the sculptor as punishment. Hence while sculpting the idol of Murugan at Engan, the sculptor had to rely on the assistance of a woman as he was blind himself. By mistake, while sculpting, he cut a finger belonging to the woman and blood began to ooze.These droplets of blood fell on his eyes curing him of his blindness. Once the sculptor realised that he could now see, he exclaimed in amazement "Engan! Engan!" meaning "My eyes" in the Tamil language.

The temple's history traces back centuries, and its sacred tank, known as "Saravana Poigai," is believed to have medicinal properties. Devotees engage in rituals, including the "Kavadi Attam," a dance offering performed during festivals. A very old and beautiful temple...no crowd in ordinary days.. on karthigai and festival days, it is very crowded...self is a regular visitor since childhood ....the moolvar is beautifully sculpted..

🎉LOCATION : The location is in between the Thiruvarur and Thiruthuraipoondi. More number of buses are available from almost all bus stations.

🎉PARKING : Two wheeler and four wheeler parking are there. But, it is better to go there by two wheeler.

🎉DIVINITY : Such a divineful place of LORD MURUGA.

🎉EATERIES : Few hotels are there. It's better to finish the dining in Thiruvarur or Thiruthuraipoondi.

🎊OTHERS: Mostly crowded during the special days like kaarthigai, aadi kaarthigai etc,. We have to wait on a long queue. Special dharisanam tickets are also there which cost about 50 Rs/ person. For Archanai, You have to buy a ticket costing Rs. 5 before the entry into the temple. You can buy the garlands and pooja items there at the entrance of the temple.

Overall, Everyone must visit the place for the feel of divinity.

Excellent Temple. Road is poor. Signal 📶 issues will be thete inside. Very small temple with beautiful Lord Murugan on the Mayil. If you at the main statue you could realise the entire weight if the statue is balanced by the peacock's tiny legs.

Very beautiful Murugan. For me took 20 years to come this temple after first attempt.
