It's not your usual run-of-the-mill picnic or weekend destination, so read on before you plan a visit. I am providing the basic info about the place, as well as the PROS and CONS.

About Godhas Waterall: It's a beautiful, huge, but seasonal waterfall located 28 km from Nuapada town. It's at the periphery of the Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary of Nuapada district, and around 12 km from Patora Dam, another tourist spot nearby.

PROS:

Size and height of waterfall: It's quite huge in terms of width and sheer direct height. Most other large waterfalls in Western Odisha are multi-stage, and one stage itself is not that high, but here it's one, very high stage. So the water that falls during rainy season is high in volume (we visited in February) and looks majestic. The pool at the base is very large, deep and rocky, and holds water even in summer.

Road to waterfall: The last two kilometers of the road leading to Godhas is through a narrow mud road surrounded by forest-covered hills and is really worth going through. The forests of Sunabeda Sanctuary (and of Nuapada/Kalahandi in particular) are a little different from rest of Western Odisha. They are less dense, rocky, and have a charm of their own. Those seeking to explore this forest more, can go towards Katinpani road after visiting Godhas.

Peek into remote Odisha/India: From here, some of the most remote, tribal area of Odisha starts, a part that is still not that much connected to modern world. It has a charm of its own, though area is not very developed. There are only mud roads, sparse villages, hamlets located next to or inside forests. If you want to explore such offbeat locations, this area is for you. We talked to villagers, "handia" sellers, wood collectors, and it was memorable.

Other spots nearby: There are some other tourist spots nearby, including Patora Dam, Sunabeda Wildlife sanctuary, etc.

CONS:

Location: It's a remote location. The nearest Pukka road is 6-7 km away, and even that leads through villages only. In non-tourist season, the forested stretch leading to Godhas is empty (we didn't see anyone there in February, though few MNREGA workers near the waterfall). If you are the type seeking a romantic place or a family place, then Godhas is definitely not the place, espcecially in non-tourist season. We were told snatchings and robberies happen sometimes in this route. Also, take enough food and especially water with you.

Wildlife: This is leopard territory. In the villages around Godhas, leopard attacks on elderly and on kids is regularly reported.

Seasonal waterfall: The main waterfall (one that falls from the hill) stops a few months after monsoon (though the pool at base holds water all the time). So if you are planning to view the waterfall the way you see in online videos, visit during monsoon or right after monsoon. Waterfall had stopped when we visited, but still it was worth looking at the deep pool and surroundings.

Dangerous waterfall: The pool at base of waterfall is VERY deep. Don't try to venture in and don't try to swim even if you are good swimmer (3-4 guys had died recently during Ganapati immersion there). Avoid coming to edge from top for photos as slipping will be fatal (a couple from Chhatisgarh had intentionally jumped in 2022, they couldn't be saved).

Enjoyable trip with family and friends. Narrow road leading to the waterfall and less parking space. But it is worth visiting. No hotels, only small shops, so plan accordingly. Enjoy the beauty, keep it clean.

One of the most beautiful waterfalls of odisha. Best time to visit is during rainy season.

Although the road is muddy and not maintained cars can freely move if you're experienced enough to drive. It's a road inbetween the forest. Parking can be an issue.

I won't suggest going on weekends because of the crowd.

Carry your own food arrangement if you want to have a picnic. No food or water is available here.

A must visit place in nuapada district.

The road condition is not good. But the place is really awesome. In the rainy season the heavy flow of water from the waterfall makes it the best place to visit.

A beutiful waterfall to see here. Nice place for picnic and trekking. It is 25 km from nuapada diat headquarter. It is also 12 km from patora dam. A small temple of lord shiva is also their. It is inside the dense forest of sunabeda. This area is declared as sunabeda sanctuary doe tiger reserve. Local people says that they have seen tiger here sometimes. Tiger came to near by villages also fir hunting. So mane people from this area also died by tiger attack. Communication is good from the nuapada town.

A pretty decent place to be in the monsoon. A little far away from the city about 25 km from the Nuapada headquarters. Decent kachha road to the bank of the waterfall. The splash of water is mesmerizing. The stream of water is on the higher side so you have to be careful if you enter the water otherwise it was worth all the time taken to be there 😁

What a fantastic place...It is a nice picnic spot near Dharambandha, in Nuapada District. This waterfall is 10 km away from Jogeswar Temple. The best time to visit this place is rainy season. Godhus water fall having total height of 30mtr. My suggestion to everyone not go closer to the end part of upper because it might dangerous. There are certain accidents also. This place is the combination of beauty and peace. The lower part of waterfall contain lots water. Those who doesn't know swimming properly do not go inside but you can just take bath near to the ladders. Be careful. The fall is very much energetic in rainy and winter season and get dried in summer. In the down a temple of Lord siva is present. An annual fair is arranged here on Baisakhi which attaracts thousand of pilgrims. Sorrounded by forest with watch tower and Jalki water reservoir near Lodra village, suitable site for nature camp.
If you come to this place then definitely go to Patora Dam and enjoy the beauty of that place also... And also you can take blessings of Lord Shiv ji...jai bhole naath... Patora Dam is nearly 10 km from this place and interesting part is that you can go to that place when you return from this palce and before going to this. Because patora will be there on the road to Goudhas waterfall. Specially I love this place ... I hope if anyone come to this in winter or rainy then definitely enjoyable...
