Scuba Diving in Tarkarli

The wetsuit was of free size that was the only drawback. The people are quite well mannered and polite. The experience was good overall. Will recommend it to my friends!!

As reviews from other people helped me a lot when I was in my search hats, I am obliged to write one myself to share my overall experience to help someone else.

Like most Indians, price is one of the important factor to me while going on trips. So I will start my review with the price...The price I paid for Scuba Dive (only) at Joshua was slightly higher compared to what I would have paid if I had arranged it with the diving group associated with the resort where I made my stay. However, top branded scuba gears, nice cozy boat and well trained n knowledgeable trainers helped me to make peace with the fact that I paid few bucks more than others for a safe and professional experience. If you are going in bigger groups you can expect some discounts. Also on the packaged deals, you can expect to save some. Try to explore that and negotiate best deal for you based on what you want. I purchased only scuba diving activity as I am heading to Goa tomorrow and have plans to do water sports there.

People on the boat and as well as on the ground co-ordinating with me were really nice, simple and helpful. I had great conversation with one of the trainers on our boat, named Santosh, who gave me great insights to enjoy my dive without getting stressed out under water.

One of the most crucial thing to remember is releasing pressure in your ears during your dive. As you go deeper, pressure in your ears keeps building up causing terrible pain. This pain in ears starts ruining your overall underwater experience until you release it. Its a pretty simple technique but make sure to practice it a couple of times before you dive and once after you start to go down but still near surface, so that you dont do anything stupid in deep waters.

In short, you just have to pinch your nose, close your mouth and try to push air out from your ears. Keep pushing out air until you feel relaxed in ears again. Then start normal breathing through mouth again. I had to do it 3-4 times duing my 15-20 min underwater time. Instructors will tell you about these things but you can practice this at your home in a bucket of water if you are nervous. :D

Overall arrangement was good. You dont need to buy/rent/borrow an underwter cam if you are going with Joshua. They capture your under water experience using their underwater cam to make this experience memorable for you. The Best part is, they give soft copy of this to you for FREE. So..More savings! ;) Make sure to carry ur pen drive or smart phone with space more than 700mb to collect these files.

Devbaug/Tarkali by itself is very beautiful and is still not being recognized for its true potential, probably due to lack of proper exposure. Anyways, you can expect to see lots of corals and fish here. Make sure to go there during the right time of the year and also during right time of the day. Typically, Nov to Feb is the best time to visit Tarkali, is what I learned from my overall research and picked end of November for myself.

One more thing befor I wind up...Try to understand the fact that they cant give you exact time to start in the morning, as it depends upon lots of factors which are not entirely in their hands to control. Try to make peace with that and dont get pissed if you dont get to start on the time promised..nature doesnt follow your travel schedules. :) They will give you a "time window" (usually of 1 hour) in which they can start...just be ready to go during that time window. Be patient and enjoy other things while they are preparing to give you a great and a safe experience which you can remember for the rest of your life.

Great Experience, good people, proper arrangements. Water Sports, Scuba diving and Parasailing at cheap rates and good packages for sports and hotels.

During peak season, remember to go before 11.30 as it becomes crowded in the afternoon. Scuba diving starts at 6.30 in the morning
