Hatu Mata Temple, Narkanda

I recently visited Hatu Mata Temple in Narkanda last weekend, and it was a remarkable experience. The temple itself is serene and adds a spiritual touch to the whole experience. To reach the temple, we opted for a cab from the zero point due to the narrow roads, and it's advisable to drive your car only if you are confident in handling such roads. The day we went, there weren't many visitors, and the weather was pleasantly cold. Along the way, we saw a frozen lake that provided an opportunity for ice skating. The panoramic view from the hill was breathtaking, allowing us to see all the surrounding hilltops. The overall trip was enjoyable, and Hatu Peak is definitely worth a visit for its stunning scenery and serene atmosphere.

The road is little narrow but its worth it to reach peak and visit temple and sight seeing area is also amazing you can see mountains with snow and oaks all around if you are lucky enough you can get a chance to see clouds raining far away but the view is just amazing and mind blowing

Situated at the highest point in Narkanda, a great place for getting amazing views of the mountains in the morning and the valley at the time of sunset. Makes for a nice trek too if you’re interested.

Very Breathtaking and Tough Road to hatu mata temple, dangerous Rode as per me approx 7 km on the mountain but view is awesome, I feel fearful when reached to temple with my Himalayan BIKE

Calmest route i walked there for 3 km and the route was amazing when reached the destination it was a really beautiful. Seems like you are on the very top and can see everywhere

Breathtaking views.
I visited this place in the first week of April, so the vegetation and greenery was not much. One can see lush green in the months of May and onwards.
Since the snow was melting the roads were wet which can cause some trouble for novice drivers, so I'll suggest you to take a cab which you can get from Narkanda (I took it from there) else from Shimla or any other place from where you are travelling.
There may be a jam during peak season or on weekends as the road is narrow.
But once you get there, at an altitude of more than 11000 ft. the cool breeze takes away all your stress and rejuvenates you.
It's a good place for kids, couples, elderly, family and friends.

A very good place at the top of the Narkanda town,at the height of 11150ft above sea level, a temple of maa kali and with a very beautiful view surrounding,and good for photography,I really enjoyed.

I recently visited the Hatu temple on a "Jeth Sunday" local people called it *जेठ का तवार* an auspicious day according to Hindu calendar and locals

Plan your visit on a Jeth Sunday but be prepared for potential traffic delays.

Beautiful temple in the Hatu peak situated 3400metres above sea level (highest peak in the shimla region). Hatu mata is actually the temple of Madodari, wife of Ravana and this temple was built by the Narkanda tribes. The sculpting on the wood was just amazing. The view from the view point is just mind blowing. One can even trek to the peak without any guide as directions were marked on the stones. We hired a taxi as it was already late afternoon. It's a very peaceful and refreshing place. Usually the place remains covered with snow in winters. But to our bad luck, we could see only traces of snow on the side hills. A humble request to all the tourists 🙏 who wanna visit such places : when i visited, i saw packets of chips and plastic bottles on the edge of the view points. Please, do not litter and spoil the beauty of such places. Being on the hill top, it becomes difficult and also risky to clean such places. All you can do is collect it in ur bag after eating and throw it in a dustbin.

Hatu Mata Temple🛕 is more than a pilgrimage site situated at 3352 meters above sea level in Narkanda, Shimla. People come in great number on the first Sunday of Jyeshtha or June to pay ritual here. The road to Hatu temple is bifurcated from Narkanda 🏕 and its approx. 6 KM long 🚕 very steep ascent and one of the dangerous drive or trek to reach the temple. Its full of Deodar and spruce trees 🌳 and gives the much relaxed view ⛰ to the devotees. #ShimlaExplorer 🏍

Hathu peak is one of the highest peak in the shimla region. The view is very mesmerizing and beautiful. The road from narkanda-chitkul point to hathu mata temple is very dangerous and adventurous. Because the road is very steep and narrowed. So, whenever you plan your trip, drive very carefully.

Point to be note :

1. According to local people, there are some leopards in the region and they attacks on animals. So, beware during the visit. 🐆🦁

2. Temple is situated at 11154 feet. So, always wear warm clothes or jacket kind of thing and avoid travel during the rainy season.

3. There is no food stall near the temple. So, its better to take food/fruits with yourself from the starting point of the temple.

Must Visit if you staying at Narkanda. Road to Temple is one of Tough road to travel by Car. So if you r new driver or don't have much experience of Mountains Drive, pls don't drive there. It's 7km from parking area if you are not taking ur car till end point.

Loved this place. It takes 4:30-5 hours from chandigarh to reach. Peaceful area and temple is on the peak on mountain. It's a beautiful view from there. There is also a lake on the way which is around 2 kms back from the temple, which is such a beautiful place.

Good place for religious visit as well as for chill outing. Visit in december to february to see snow on hills. Very chilled place.

Well, this place has beautiful surroundings, even towards the end of April, we could find snow there. Road to this temple is not very driver friendly, better take a local cab from Narkanda.

If you love trekking you can trek from the gate
3km trek from gate also you can take your vehicle to top.
I went there by cycle in the winters got some snow on the road and crazy views and roads
