This is the exact place where there body of Tipu Sultan was found after fighting with the Britishers. There is a small stone placed in his remembrance and it is well maintained and surrounded by a small garden.
You have to remove your shoes and enter. Nothing much to see at this place, but good to visit the historical site when in Srirangapatna.

In the Fourth Mysore war the British laid siege to Srirangapatna on 4th May 1799 AD and effectively breached the Fort at Watergate. On hearing of this storming of the enemy, Tipu moved in Posthaste to the spot, and in the fight, fell to the bullet of a British soldier. It was here the body of Tipu was identified and recovered amidst heaps of the dead soldiers. In the recognition of the valiant Tipu, Colonel Wellesley set a stone tablet to mark this spot.

Visited this place 2 days back. This place of Tipu's death is well maintained till date. On the right hand side of the road, you can see the remains of his destroyed palace, which the Britishers bombed within 6 hours of killing him.

On 4 May 1799 the British stormed the island fortress at Seringapatam and Tipu Sultan was killed. Legend has it that he was killed at the spot shown in this photograph, but in actual fact it was 182 m to the east of this spot, marked by a small enclosure. The threat from Mysore was finally removed on 4 May 1799, when the British - supported by the army of their Indian ally, the Nizam of Hyderabad - stormed and captured Tipu's capital, Seringapatam, after a month-long siege. Tipu was killed in the fighting, and with his death the Fourth Mysore War (1799) ended.
