This is a haven for the cattle situated in the midst of arena plantation and green surroundings near a town called Siddapura in the district of Uttara Kannada (Karnataka). Developed and run by religious leader Sri Sri Sri Raghaveshwar Swamiji of Sri Ramachandra pura Math, this well planned cattle shelter gives peace of mind when you visit.

There are about 500 cattle which are looked after. The collection had different breeds from India. There are areas for bathing, relaxing, labour room, interaction area with calf and special area for bulls.

There is a central square pond. You relax enjoying the whole area on swings.

Amazing work by the seer and the supporting staff

As the name suggests it's really a heaven on earth for Desi cows.
People take good care of them.
And also provide good hospitality to the visitors.

It is worth to visit this place which is giving shelter to more than 700 cows. As the name says it all, it refers purely to heaven. This place is mainly for Indian breed cows. We can see almost all breeds of desi cows. Children can enjoy at this place to the fullest. Being surrounded by nature full of greenery and by cows, birds chirping, wow, it definitely gives a divine feel.

Gou Swarga is a shelter for thousands of Desi cows. Cows are not tied here which makes this place special. These cows are in a protected and clean environment along with sufficient food.
It is located in a calm place. Must visit at least once in a lifetime.

Stay is available but please check for the availability before going. The rooms are very good. 24*7 Hot water is available. They provide enough blankets for the cold weather. The room is located outside the goshale.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner is available in the matha.

Parking facilities available.

The staff are very friendly and the place gives a home-like feeling.

Nearby visiting places: Unchalli falls, Burude falls, Yana, Sirsi, Sahasralinga etc.

Must visit. Valuable time was spent with different breeds of cattle. Purchased and fed them with Gougrasa ( special food of cattle). Flowers, vegetation and atmosphere are worth the visit. No entry fee.

Gow Swarga is heaven literally. Beautifully maintained and huge establishment. There are nearly 15 varities of cows. You can feed them animal food that is a mixture of sugarcane pieces, green grass and hay. The place is clean and peaceful. You can even see cows that are 9 feet in height. Kids will love it. They can feed and pamper them too

I visited this place during October-2019 after visiting Jog-falls. It's a Gou-Shaala like never before. It's a place where Indian Desi Cows are protected. It was so pleasing to see a place where the cows are not tied, they enjoy their freedom to move around in a large area and choose whether they want the Sun or the shades. new born calfs are not separated from their mothers, and they have the first right over the milk. I got to know from the people here that the Milk is not considered as primary source of revenue. cow-dung and urine is used to create value added products and to generate revenue. I enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the cows and the bulls (but please don't feed the cows anything without the permission from the people in-charge). you can sit and relax in the middle of the Gow-Shaala near the pond. And don't forget to enjoy the delicious Desi cow Milk at the counter. If you are an Indian Desi cow lover, then you can not miss this place from your trip plan.

It is a very unique concept to have a sanctuary for our desi holy cows, and the first of its kind in the world. It has been conceived and built by Sri Ramachandrapura Matha. There are lush paddy fields and grasslands nearby to provide fodder for the cows and plentiful water bodies in the valley surrounded by the hills of the Western Ghats.
Besides the sanctuary there is a medical care unit for cows, a place to conduct pujas and havans, a meditation arena, a library with cow related books, a shop selling cow related ayurvedic products as well as some daily requirement products, an auditorium for cultural programs, a mini theatre for audio-visual shows, and a huge production unit for cow related products. In addition there is lodging facility and a restaurant for people who want to stay overnight and do go-seva.
We bought some special pellet feed from the shelter-in-charge for ₹101 and fed some of the cows with our own hands. The cows came forward eagerly and happily took the feed from us. It was our first experience of interacting with cows. Before this we always thought that cows were sleepy and docile animals.
It is worthwhile to pay a visit to Gou-Swarga specially if your children are accompanying you. It’s a different kind of place than a regular zoo, as you can actually touch and befriend an animal, and get to know why they are called ‘Holy Cow’.

Gouswarga is an initiative born out of compassion and love for desi cows. Here you can see variety of cow breeds from all over the country. They are preserving rare breeds which are in verge of extinction and also taking care of ill cows by adapting them. Their effort to run this service is really commendable.
