Sri Siganduru Chowdeshwari Temple

Beautiful temple had visited this place in sunday route from Sagar.
Since we had reached morning bit late around 10 Am we had to wait in queue for 1 hour to get a ferry ride with our car(Can park ur vehicle and take ferry or u can go along with ur 4 wheeler which costs Rs 50 after getting in per person Rs 20)
After ferry ride it's around 6km to temple (Car parking, Washroom, Footwear stand everything available)
God darshana took us almost 1Hour carried by lunch prasada
Best time to visit this in morning have darshan by 11 Am so can visit nearby places Jogfall and many more.

I went from Davangere
.. we left in morning and visited to temple in car... We parked car and paid 50rs as parking ticket ... Then took a Ferry which comes every 25-30mins to cross river ... Immediately we need to rush to Get bus to temple or there will be crusier or Jeep...if u go seat wise they will charge 30rs or else ,One has to pay 450/-rs to 400rs to hire if there are no seats... So from there we will go to temple... Lunch will start from 12 or so... Then visit shaneshwara temple... Which goes from Areca farm... Then came bck from Jeep for 30rs seat ... 10rs for Ferry... Then boarded bck to car...

Amazing temple. Calm, peace and even the Journey to this temple was so beautiful, you need to take a ferry ride to reach here only if you want to orelse you can reach via road as well. Now they are constructing a bridge so later you might not get to experience that. So please visit this place before.

Sri Sigandur Chowdeshwari is considered one of the holiest temple towns in Hinduism. The main attraction of the town is the temple of Sri Chowdeshwari Devi. Shri Kshetra is located on the banks of Sharavati River, Sigandur temple draws devotees from all over the state.one can reach Sigandur From Sagar Railway station or bus stand private vehicles or private buses are available to Sigandur. If you are coming by your own vehicle, you need to reach one side of the bank in the river Sharavathi. Launch (ferry) service is available from this bank to the other bank @20 per head . once you get down from the ferry at the other end, you will find jeeps@ 30 rs per head or buses @ 15 rs per head to temple premises. Launch service is available up to 5.00 PM only. The Sigandur is just 5 Km from this place

Very divine and scenic place. Road to temple from jog falls is good. 2 ways to reach the temple - one is the water ways where you can take your vehicle in the boat and reach temple. The other way is the road way in your own drive. We did not take the water ways and went directly in our car to the temple. No much rush in the time visited. We had lunch at the temple and is really good. Worth place to visit.

Best holly place. Especially we enjoyed the LAUNCH. We took our four wheeler in Launch. Here local vehicles will be given priority. You should be here before 5:30 PM if you want to go in Launch. Best recommended place. Temple has the Annaprasada 3 times. Which is rare. Morning, afternoon and night they serve food.

Sri kshetra siganduru chowdeswari temple its located in sigekanive backwater of sharavathi river in shimoga D sagara taluk. itself is very thrilling and memorable. I really liked this temple, feels so peaceful and relaxed when you sit inside the temple.

There is also free prasadam provided for all devotees and I definitely recommend everyone for this.

There is free open parking available for cars tempo traveller's and busses.

Since we reached from kollur we did not take lounge to reach. But if your travelling from Sagara you have take lounge along with your vehicle to reach temple. Lounge closes by 6.30pm

The place filled with positive vibes .loved the nature and the calmness we felt while visiting the place. Please see the timings because the temple will be close in afternoon from 2pm-4pm don't miss the ride in ferry worth the wait .

Very beautiful place in the heart of western ghats, Siganduru Chowdeshwari is the main diety there.
Place lacks few basic amenities like good hotels and eateries. But can be manageable.
Road connections are very good, lots of vehicles avaliable for traveling in and out.
Lots of other tourist and pilgrimage places around Siganduru.

Visit once in a lifetime... really enjoyed the way I had met with godess..... enjoyed launge and 1 and half HR in queue...but also blessed by devi....

Good maintenance by the trustees...well cleaned...well ventilated...well decorated....and all the pujaris who are working there they also very much disciplined and peaceful...

If gone have some prasada over there which will closes @3 pm in afternoon and @9 in night....

Journey to the temple itself is very thrilling and memorable. First by road and then by water through the barge along Sharavathi backwaters and then finally by road again to reach the temple.
Everything is very well organized here in the temple. There is a dedicated chappal stand to leave footwear. Then queue for darshan. Post that anna prasadam is served. So you can proceed for that for yummy prasadam. Restroom facilities are also available which is free and we'll maintained.

Mother Choudeshwari is called “Sigandureshwari”. Shri choudamma Devi has strength to proceed the fear of thieves. The devotees who carry on benedicts will live happily without any fear of thieves. If any theft takes place in the home of these devotees, Devi punishes them.

You are invited to visit the Temple with elders and family at the earliest. Amma fulfills request of all devotees.

You can come from Kollur then cross Ghats to reach Tamari and Temple.

There is a historical story on the Shri Kshetra Sigandur staying of Goddess Sri Chowdeshwari Devi here and blessing thousands of his devotees. Way back in 18th Century there was place called MADENOOR village in KARUR grama panchayathi which falls in Sagar taluk and Shimoga district.

Locally known also as "Sigandooru", the city is well known for its Shri Chowdeshwari Temple that is dedicated to the Goddess Chowdeshwari. Present on the banks of the Sharavati River, the temple is a must-visit for many devotees from all over the world.

It is recommended to visit during January to March, to celebrate the festival, but to also escape the heat and subsequent monsoon.

Launcher is available from morning 8.30AM to evening 5.30PM with a alternative shift with a frequency of 45Min.

Fee now (December 2022) is 50 INR per car, 10 INR per person one way.

No Specific dress code for Darshana however Shorts for Men and Western dress for Women is not allowed.

At a distance of 40 km from Sagara, 40 km from Jog Falls, 46 km from Kollur, and 105 km from Shimoga, Sigandur is a small village in Sagar Taluk of Karnataka state.

Nandana Chakravarthy has built this famous temple. The original Chowdeshwari moorthi looked very fearful to watch. So, it was kept hidden behind the garbhagriha doors and a similar Chowdeshwaridevi deity was made with simiar resemblance but with less fearful lookings.

A very powerful and famous temple located on serene island. One has to take a ferry to reach the place. Lunch is served at the temple. One can make wish and most probably it will come true (I have had a magical experience here in regards to making a wish). Temple closes from 2pm to 4pm. Recommended to visit during monsoon season and plan so as to leave the temple by 4pm so that you get a ferry to return.

Nice Hindu temple..lu have yo reach this temple my crossing river ..journey through the river by ship...after crossing u have to go to temple around 2 kilometers..very nice place .lunch from the temple is very good

There are 3 ways to reach Siganduru temple.
1.By road, passing through Tumari.
Through this way, Siganduru is 45km from Kollur, 57km from Nagara, and 88km from Bhatkala.
2.From Sagara(40km) through a big Ferry which carries the Bus. A new bridge is getting constructed in this ferry route, were we are using ferry now to cross the backwater.
3.From Jog(41km) through a small ferry, this road can be bit challenging during heavy rains, as the boat is small and almost 5km on each side of ferry ride is completely mud road, but this route and the ferry place has a scenic view.
