Overall an excellent place to visit if you are visiting Mysore. I suggest people to buy the special entry ticket if you are visiting the temple on public holidays. There will be a very long line if you want to enter the temple. Have breakfast before you start from Mysore as there will be less hotels and expensive ones on the hill. On the way to the temple, there is a view point and you can watch the Mysore palace from there. Overall, it’s a great place to visit.

Went there during site seeing trip as it was one of the stop in itinerary. The place is absolutely amazing and temple is so beautiful.

There is general line option and special entry ticket @ Rs 100. If you are visiting on Fridays or weekends then prefer buying special entry if you have no time.

It has so many shops outside where you can do a little bit of shopping, buy stuffs and prasaad.

Must visit place♥ which is situated on Chamundi hills and also there is a big statue of Maheshasur.

On the way there is a view point which gives you amazing view of Mysore city. Must visit there in the evening for a peaceful experience.

Easy to reach from Mysuru bus stand and in every 10 min you will get buses to reach here.

You will feel peace when you enter inside the temple. The architecture of the temple is speechless.
Lots of fast food stalls are available to eat and drink water. Best ever amazing experience I ever had.

The Chamundeshwari Temple, perched atop the Chamundi Hills in Mysore, is a testament to the city's rich cultural heritage and spiritual significance. This ancient temple, dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, captivates visitors with its stunning Dravidian architecture and historical allure.

Ascending the 1,000 steps leading to the temple is an experience that combines spirituality with breathtaking views of Mysore city. The intricate carvings adorning the temple's exterior showcase the craftsmanship of bygone eras, evoking a sense of reverence and awe.

Upon entering, one is enveloped in an atmosphere steeped in religious fervor. The sanctum sanctorum houses the deity, adorned with vibrant decorations and lit oil lamps, enhancing the aura of divinity. Devotees and tourists alike participate in rituals and prayers, immersing themselves in the temple's sacred ambiance.

Apart from its religious significance, the Chamundeshwari Temple's surroundings offer a serene retreat. The panoramic vistas from the hilltop are mesmerizing, especially during sunrise and sunset, attracting photography enthusiasts and nature lovers.

However, the temple's popularity can lead to considerable crowds, especially during festivals like Navratri. Navigating the crowds might deter from the tranquility seekers' experience.

Visitors should take the opportunity to explore nearby attractions like the Nandi Bull statue and the Mahishasura statue while at the Chamundi Hills. Additionally, local vendors offering religious trinkets and souvenirs provide a glimpse into Mysore's cultural tapestry.

Overall, the Chamundeshwari Temple stands as a symbol of devotion and architectural brilliance, inviting pilgrims and tourists alike to witness its spiritual aura and bask in the charm of Mysore's historical legacy.

Chamundeshwari Temple, situated atop Chamundi Hills approximately 13 km from the royal city of Mysuru in Karnataka, India, has been a focal point of devotion for the Maharaja family over the centuries.

Revered as Nada Devi (ನಾಡ ದೇವಿ) by the people of Karnataka, signifying the State Goddess, it rests at an elevation of around 3300 ft above sea level. The 'Mahabaleswara Temple,' is the oldest on the hills campared to Chammundi temple.

Initially constructed by the Hoysala Dynasty in the 12th century, the temple with seven floors was built by the Vijayanagara Empire in the 17th century. Subsequent enhancements were made by the Maharaja family of Mysuru, who bestowed valuable gifts.

The Chammundi temple involves approximately 1100 steps, built by Dodda Devaraja Wodeyar in 1659. Notable along the way is a massive granite Nandi at the 700th step, standing over 15 feet high and 24 feet long, adorned with exquisite bells.

Special Poojas are conducted every Friday, Ashada Fridays, Chammundi Jayanthi, and during Navaratri days. The temple's fame extends beyond Mysuru and India, attracting visitors from abroad.

Must visit place for everyone, with a lots of spiritual and positive vibes will get it from here.

Divinity of the goddess, enchanted with the prayers is a pure bliss to experience located on the hilltop. The place is well maintained with regular frequent buses to commute from the bus station to the hilltop. Devotes can serve lunch at the annadana counter. There is tiny market around the temple to buy hand crafted decors, spices, fruits & even coconut to offer to god

If you ignore the way they manage the queue everything else is great.

If you are going by bike then you will also enjoy the ride to the top of the point..

It takes around 45 to 60 min waiting for the priority queue which costs 100 Rs... But in the normal queue wait time is almost double.

When you are visiting mysuru, Chamundeshwari temple is a must visit. One of the most iconic places. This place is a go to place for all the localities whatever occasion it is.
Usually it is crowded on Fridays and weekends. Also during ashada maasa(August) and Dasara season(October) it's heavily crowded. Lunch and dinner facilities are available by the temple itself.
You can take tickets of different price to get a faster darshan. Tickets start from 30INR.
Car/scooter parking is charged. You can take your vehicle top the hill. Or else you can take the government bus.
Another tip leave your footwear near or inside your vehicle so you can avoid paying to keep your footwear.
Also there is another temple if you walk a bit further. That temple is also beautiful, so don't miss that. Don't miss out Mahishasura statue and Nandi on your way.
If you want to enjoy the nature and look at amazing view then I'd suggest you to take the stairs. During weekend even that is crowded.

Any visit to Mysuru remains incomplete without ascending the Chamundi Hills to pay homage to the divine Sri Chamundeshwari Temple. This sacred site is a testament to the fierce form of Goddess Shakti, renowned for vanquishing the demon Mahishasura. This temple is recognized as one of the 18 Shakti Peethas.

Perched 3,000 feet above sea level, the temple can be reached either by road or by climbing the 1,000 steps leading to its magnificent entrance. The journey unfolds amid lush greenery and offers breathtaking views of the heritage-rich city of Mysuru at the foot of the hill.

The temple, crowned by an imposing Gopuram, is a masterpiece of artistry from the Hoysala and Vijayanagara dynasties. The intricate stone carvings narrate stories with unparalleled precision, bearing witness to the remarkable skills of a bygone era, untouched by modern technology.

While the temple may be relatively small, it draws large crowds, especially on weekends, festivals, and Fridays. Devotees have the option of choosing between free and paid queues. The main attraction, the darshan of Goddess Chamundeshwari, is a captivating experience, enhanced by the fragrance of flowers, flickering oil lamps, and the presence of incense.

Devotees can savor the laddoo prasad from the prasad counter and explore the various shops offering puja items, refreshing coconut water, sugarcane juice, and even a small flea market with a variety of wares.

The temple grounds boast well-maintained parking facilities and a designated area for storing shoes. Visiting Sri Chamundeshwari Temple has a magnetic pull, leaving me yearning for frequent returns. The divine aura and blessings I feel here are a testament to the profound spiritual power that resides within.

Temple is really divine but crowd management is worst. Please ensure that people enter the temple in single line so that elderly people and people carrying babies don't feel suffocated. The push and pull mentality doesn't let one have a peaceful glance towards the goddess. The management must take care about queue management properly.

There's this energy which is so magnanimous. I can feel my soul at peace here. Bike rides to chamundi hills are my most memorable moments. Going to the temple at night makes you feel like everything I going slow it makes you wanna sleep under the great tree. Early morning visits makes one feel hopeful and cheery and noon I will try someday
