IIT Kharagpur, Main Academic Building

Academic Building: This is one of the oldest buildings here. It is a very quiet place and a lot of crowd is seen here during classes.

Rashmi Bhai, a long time IITian and my close friend told me this, “When I look at this building, it feels like a holy Temple”. Truly I felt the same when I visited this for the first time during Kshitij, the TechFest.

It was a dream to study in this campus. By God’s grace it was fulfilled about 15 years later when I joined the MBA course in VGSOM.

It has a rich legacy. Many freedom fighters spent their heydays here fighting for our country. Now it still instills pride in all of us creating future leaders of this world!

This is the Iconic building of the institute which you will find in media and all other official/unofficial purposes. It is the heart of the institute and serves as an administrative building. Apart from that, the library, classrooms(F-series), and SN auditorium are situated in.

Infrastructure of IIT-KGP is infamous. Auditoriums are well equipped and spacious.

Countries one of the finest institutions is IIT Kharagpur. The greatest minds came from the prestigious institution. Lots of research and development happens from here.

I have attended for GES workshop in this campus
Really wonderful campus ever I seen
Which is 2100 acres greenery campus
At first day I rented a cycle in the campus (techno park)
We had accomodation in BRH Hostel and it has a canteen in upstairs that was really Gud with cheap rates go for it
CCD is the best place to spend ofcourse that was very cheap too when compared to regular CCD’s
Heritage hotel inside the campus is good but little pricy
PFC in the campus is good for its biriyani
Bombay cineplex in Kharagpur usually show Telugu and trending movies 🎥
There is no particular rules inside the campus
We can cigarettes and pan inside the campus very easily

Nice Infrastructure of IIT-KGP is infamous. Auditoriums are well equipped and spacious.

Excellent building. Library is to be experienced to be believed. Spent 18 months of my life during '89-'91 here.

IIT Kharagpur is the 3rd oldest technical institute in the West Bengal state after Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur (1856) and Jadavpur University (established as Bengal technical institute in 1906) When the first session started in August 1951, there were 224 students and 42 teachers in the ten departments of the institute. The classrooms, laboratories and the administrative office were housed in the historic building of the Hijli Detention Camp (now known as Shaheed Bhawan), where political revolutionaries were imprisoned during the British rule.The office building had served as the headquarters of the Bomber Command of theU.S. 20th Air Force during World War II.
The name "Indian Institute of Technology" was adopted before the formal inauguration of the institute on 18 August 1951 by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. On May 18, 1956 a Bill (Bill no 36 of 1956)[6] was introduced in Lok Sabha to declare the institution known as the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur to be an institution of national importance and to provide for its incorporation and matters connected therewith. On 15 September 1956, Indian Institute of Technology (Kharagpur) Act, 195 of Parliament received the assent of the President. Prime Minister Nehru, in the first convocation address of IIT Kharagpur in 1956, said
