Om namah shivaya 🙏. Ancient temple. One of the famous and ancient temple in Salem district. Located at opposite to Tharamangalam bus stand which is 20 KM from Salem City. You can see the Excellent and Amazing sculptures in the temple. Sculptures in the ceiling also extraordinary. Main deity of this temple is Lord Shiva. From here, you can reach Bengaluru and Coimbatore highways without entering into Salem. Frequent city buses available from Salem. Mofussil bus also available in a specific time.

Beautiful temple , close to Salem City , built in 17th Century by Getti Mudali Chieftains . The sculptures and stone decorations inside the temple are just fabulous . Photography inside is strictly prohibited . The compound is vast , with tall gopuram, enormous wooden doors and some smaller shrines . A must-see temple .
The temple tank , in two parts on either side of the road at the back of the temple , is unique and well designed . But , sadly , kept very dirty and unapproachable . People are using it like a dumpyard .

One of the oldest surviving temple with wonderful sculptures. Not much crowded. More cleanliness needed.

The temple belongs to 13th century speaking volumes of the temple architectural skill of Tamilnadu.
The temple features exquisite stone carvings of the Yaali (mythological dragon), depicted with an actual stone ball inside its mouth (one can even put one's finger inside the Yaali's mouth and rotate the ball)
The temple has many legends surrounding it. As Vishnu handed over her sister Parvati (thaarai vaarthu koduthal) to Shiva through a marriage ceremony at this place, it is called Tharamangalam

One of the oldest temples in salem. A very peaceful place to pray. Having one underground temple with lord Siva. You can see old style inscriptions all over the temple. The parking space is less and it is open. Usually the temple does not have a huge rush. On pradhosam day is special and rush will be there.

A very must religious place to visit in Salem.
This is the temple dedicated to lord Shiva with architectural marvels.
Temple is right opposite to bus stand.
Parking spaces are available near temple.
One of the specialities of this temple is Badhala Lingam- A shiva idol placed at underground cave. Visitors can go into this cave and pray the lingam.
Chains made up of stones can be seen on the roof inside the temple.

Finest architecture with note worthy details.

One of the best and peaceful temple in Salem.

Tourism Board must promote this temple so that people from other parts shall visit here if they are nearby Salem, Mettur, Yercaud or Omalur 👍🏻

And kindly go through the Tunnel/Cave inside the temple.

Visited for the first time with my friends and we had a wonderful dharsan of Lord Shiva and other Deities.
At the entrance of the temple, we were greeted by the grandest Dravidian architecture (Chola period) and every stone-made sculpture on the gigantic temple tower and on the temple corridors spoke volumes about the ages-old history (arts, spirituality, etc.). We were totally spellbound seeing the magnificent architectures of the temple and to add more surprise, one of the Pandits narrated us the history of the temple and the story behind the design of such grand sculptures and their perfect positioning on the corridors and roofs, etc.

The temple also houses an underground (cave) Shivlingam which was again another surprising experience for us. Overall the temple reminded us about the grandest temples of Srirangam, Thiruvanaikaval, etc., and we collected so much information and memories in our first visit itself.
