Muchalinda Sarovar Holy Pond

One of the very sacred lakes in bodhgaya. It is said that once when buddha was meditating a very heavy rainfall occured so to cover buddha from the rain the snake came out of the lake and gave him shelter so that the rain does not bother him. Therefore it holds a very significant importance in buddhism tradition.

Pond is actually a waste water treatment tank full of catla ( catfish) . People generally feed fish here but unknowingly make water more polluted because they generally throw the rappers and plastics of the food packet..

One of the holy place of Bodhgaya. Located just adjacent to Mahabodhi temple. Lord Buddha spent his 6th week meditating here after his Enlightenment. As per Buddhist believe that the heaven was darkened at that time. A heavy thunderstorm came out from the sky. The king of snakes Mucalinda decided to protect Lord Buddha from the rain. A statue of Lord Buddha and Mucalinda can be seen in the pond. This pond is a must visit place of Bodhgaya.

Middle the pond the Sheshnag saved Lord Buddha during the meditation there you can feed the fish
