Harihareshwar temple is located in a small town near Davanagere. The history is very impressive and the architecture used to build the temple is a feast to the eyes.
We had spent enjoying the beauty for about 90 minutes. Had a great darshan of Harihareshwar and Mata Mahushasura mardhini.
The encryptions erected in the campus provides lots of information about the temple and the history.
A must visit for the people traveling thru Davanagere.

Personally, my family and I liked this temple a lot. It's 1500 years old, hoysala architecture. I am amazed how technologically advanced Indians were at that time. I can't think how you cut perfect cylindrical pillars and with all those circular design patterns out of a stone.
The main deity of part Shiva and Vishnu looked very divine and mesmerizing. I was initially skeptical while travelling through the narrow, congested, and dirty road leading to the temple. I travelled on a weekday in the evening expecting less crowd, but it was a bit crowded . But it was worth my time and effort.

A temple devoted to Lord Harihara who is part Vishnu and part Shiva, located in the small town of Harihar. The place also gets its name from the temple.
The temple is around 1500 years old and built by the Hoysala kings, reflecting their beautiful architecture. The temple complex is now maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and run by the state government. Not much famous and one must visit to enjoy the ancient architecture as well as pray to the Lord.
The place is well maintained.
We visited on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded. There are other small temples inside the complex. The priests perform aarti and also narrate the story if you request them.
River Tungabhadra flows beside the temple.
The temple is almost a kilometre away from the railway station/bus stand and you get autos from the temple as well. Not enough parking space.

Great Temple. Amazing sculptures. Must visit. A very enthralling Hoysala style temple with every pillar being unique and lathe turned. Very intricate stone work, especially in the roof. You will be spellbound by the beauty of this temple. Do you don’t feel like coming out.
There are toilets towards the walk way to the river, but the path way is pathetic. The soundings of the temple are not maintained well, not commensurate with the great temple. We need to clear out 200 ft around the temple and create a garden which will multiply the value and beauty of this temple

A beautiful temple showcasing the Hoysalas architecture at its grandeur. The stone inscriptions, the mantapa with those exquisite pillars is a treat to the eyes. It's in Harihar, about 20 kms one way from Davanagere. Must visit. Also plan to visit the Raghavendra mutt near this with a view of Tungabhadra river behind the mutt.

**Harihareshwara Temple: Where Divinity and History Unite**

Nestled in Harihar, Karnataka, the Harihareshwara Temple, built around 1223–1224 CE by Polalva and later adorned by Soma in 1268 CE, is more than just a shrine; it's a legacy. The abode of Harihara, the divine fusion of Vishnu and Shiva, is an embodiment of spiritual harmony. The image, seamlessly merging Shiva's right attributes with Vishnu's left, encapsulates the divine union.

The temple's sacred aura not only echoes with centuries-old stories but also resonates with the aspirations of devotees, believed to be fulfilled by the temple's divine energy. As a fellow resident of this land, the temple isn't merely a monument; it's an intrinsic part of our shared cultural heritage, where history, faith, and devotion intertwine seamlessly.

I'm truly amazed by the beauty and architecture of this famous old temple. It was built during the Hoysala regime. The temple is dedicated to the Lord HariHareshwara which is a combined form of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. This temple is situated on the banks of River Tungabadhra. It just takes 25-30 mins to travel to this temple from Davangere. This is definitely a must visit place whenever you are around Davangere.

A temple with rich heritage starting from Kadambhas, Hoysalas and Chalukyas. Eye catchy, mesmerizing architecture leaves you in awe. A must visit place, as the priest says "This is a Toll free Temple on a Toll free Road" - No ticket for darshan.

The only unfortunate thing is itz under Govt Control and needs some serious maintenance

Very ancient temple. We can see God Harihara , a fusion of the right vertical half of Shiva and left vertical half of Vishnu. The image holds in its right hand, the attributes of Shiva and in the left hand, those of Vishnu. It is situated on the banks of Bhadra river. Very vast area. There is a sri lakshmi idol also inside the temple. On the whole this place is very powerful and devine.

It's an ancient hoysala architecture marvel with beautiful sculptures all around the temple. Temple has a single deity, a combination of Shiva and Vishnu. The intricate and amazing sculptures on the roof and the stone pillars are a standout. It's an heritage site which needs proper maintenance from the local civic bodies, so that it can attract more visitors. One can easily spend couple of hrs appreciating the amazing sculpture work and knowing the piece of history.

The Harihareshwara Temple, Karnataka, built in 1223-1224 by Polava. Lord Vishnu and Shiva together took the form of Harihara, came down to earth & killed the demon (Guha).
A Beautiful Staggered square plan of open mantapa (hall) at the temple in Hoysala architectural style.
Harihareshwara temple, Karnataka. There used to live a demon here called Guhasura who had a boon due to which he couldn't be killed by neither Hari (Vishnu) nor Hara(Shiva). So, both together came as one HariHara and killed the demon. The main deity idol has Shaivaite features
