When ever you're feeling down, just be here prior to sunset, and bid a good bye to the scorching Sun into the river Hooghly from one of the Historical Ghats of North Calcutta.

Bless yourself for being a part of History

One of the most popular and historic Ganga Ghats in North Kolkata. Maa Sarada used to come daily for bath at this Ganga ghat while she was staying ( 1909 to 1920) at Bagbazar. This ghat is named Mayer Ghat in memory of Sarada Maa. 300 meters away from this ghat is Sri Sri Sarada Mayer Bari, where Bhogprasad is distributed to the public at a small cost every afternoon. The Durga idol of Baghbazar Sarbojonin is immersed in this Ganga ghat every year .

How to reach here:
Bagbazar railway station of Circular Railway is next to the ghat, you can come here easily from Dumdum or Magherhat.
If you want to come by metro rail, you have to get down at Shyambazar (Distance - 1.2 km), from here you can reach this ghat by auto or toto in 5 minutes.
And if you want to come by ferry, you have to get off at Bagbazar Ferry Ghat.

It is very beautiful nd peaceful at the same time. Best time to visit is in the evening. Here r some of the clicks from my phone when the sun was setting. Just see the reflection and colour of the sun. It's beautiful ❤ But generally in the morning you can see people doing their funeral rituals. So that must be a chaos. But after 3pm it is free and you can sit there and have a chat.

Clean ghat.....beside bagbazar stn. This ancient ghat is where Sarada Ma spent her final days. Walk around the ghat and you'll spot a couple of platforms made for the evening aarti. There's enough place to sit and enjoy some 'me' time and take in the beauty of the peaceful surroundings. Watch out for the creative graffiti art on the walls as well as the beautiful Radha-Krishna temple.

Amazing views during sunset. Even elder couples enjoy the view. It's a paradise for young couples. It's clean but sometimes it gets messy. If you can come during sunrise you will get mesmerized. Peaceful.

Today on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima Eve , many people came here for holy bath, they offer their deity or worship towards River Ganga. Also, so many people give their homage and do Tarpan.

One thing is that this ghat is very next to the railway station. So, people come here by train and access easily to this Maa er ghat.

The water of the river Ganges actually River Hooghly is used as holy water by the hindus. So many people come here and bring the water 🌊🌊 in different bottles, drums etc.

Well Great place indeed. Place with historical importance for Ramakrishna Vivekananda tradition. Maa Sarada used to come daily for bath at this Ganga ghat while she was staying at Bagbazar. This place has always been amazing. The experience here is simply equal to relaxation and peace. But people need to be careful about two things 1. The Ganges 2. The railway track. Apart from this everything is great. The best time to visit during winter is the afternoon and evening, due to the soothing weather and cool breeze. During summer I would recommend to visit in the morning.
