Chilika Visitor Center

For lagoon ecosystem enthusiasts who would like to understand Chilika lake's biodiversity! Not so well maintained but plenty of exhibits. The preserved exhibits will remind you of the biology labs! Good museum to visit to understand the importance of the lake.

Chilika Development Authority (a Government of Odisha Agency) has been created under Forest & Environment Department of Government of Odisha in the year 1991 with an objective for conservation of ecology of Chilika lagoon and to bring an all round development in and around the lagoon which calls for multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary development activities.
This Visitor Center has been developed in order to impart some knowledge about the marine ecosystem and their protection. A lot of models are in display to provide a detailed explanation. Boats are available for a trip on Chilika.

This is basically museum where one can see how Chilika was built and different types of fishes are there available stored in jar. Quite an information place.

I got a lot to know in Chilika development authority. That was something indescribable. Well I love historical sources . Hence that was an awesome experience for me because I come to know a lot about animals

Great place to see migratory bird... And if lucky enough one can even see dolphins...but don't fall for so called govt people who come to exhibit pearls and stones.. They charge exorbitantly

Interesting as well as informative. This place is a must visit for ocean lovers and geography geeks who love to know about the Chilika lake and it's fauna. It has samples of varieties of fishes and amphibians along with turtles and fish in the aquarium. Dolphin skeletons are kept on the top floor and open to public.
