Petroglyphs of Devache Gothane

Konkan region has several petroglyphs but this particular petroglyph has its own significance.

If you place compasses on various points around the torso of the human, polarity goes completely haywire. You can click on the above images to view them full screen to appreciate just how offset they are, sometimes they are completely reversed !

There is no obvious explanation for this, I’m not aware of any other instance where laterite rock exhibits this magnetic anomaly, although I’m no expert.

You can also try it by using compass app on your smart phones, if you don't have compass with you.

देवाचेगोठणे येथील कातळ शिल्प जे की देवाचेगोठणे येथील देऊळ वाडीच्या सड्यावर आहे. हे कातळ शिल्प म्हणजे निसर्गाचा अद्भुत चमत्कार म्हणावा लागेल...
कारण या ठिकाणी दिशादर्शक म्हणजेच होकायंत्र ज्याला इंग्लिश मध्ये Compass अस बोलतात, ते या ठिकाणी दिशा दर्शविताना त्याचा काटा म्हणजेच सुई सारखी विस्थापित होत राहते.
म्हणजेच त्याची दिशा ही सतत बदलत राहते.
जिथे कातळशिल्प आहे तिथे magnetic field काम करत नाही अस निदर्शनास येत. स्थानिक लोक याला रावणाचे कातळ असे बोलतात. सदर फोटो पाहून तुम्हाला ते समजेलच. हे कातळशिल्प आकाराने तस मोठ आहे परंतु निरीक्षण केल असता ते अपूर्ण अथवा प्राथमिक अवस्थेत असल्याच समजत.
