This is really a great historical place to visit. Police protected area. Over all this quilla/Fort will show mughal architecture. The area is too large. No ticket is there. Yet it is partially maintained but renovation is going on. Overall it is a great place to visit. You can climb up to the terrace of the fort. Those multiple old Stairs are still available. From there the overall fort is visible. Surrounding areas as well. Really a great place for photography, small tour and witness the history.

A MOGUL FORT- OFF THE GT ROAD. HIDDEN GEM IN LUDHIANA DISTRICT, PUNJAB, INDIA. There is free entry, you can sign the visitors’ book at the desk manned by a kind smiling Sikh guard who it’s seems is well informed about the history of the fort and is himself a retired Indian Soldier. The fort was built by the Mogul emperor Suri, around 1540, it has been partially re-stored. It has great walls, you are allowed to climb the towers and can imagine how it felt to be a mogul soldier looking down on who you ruled. There is also a mosque in the fort, you have to take your shoes off to enter. It is used by some locals as we saw pray mats, it’s open to all to see inside. We found the fort’s well, the water table had dropped, so it was dry. There were some mogul mosaics on the walls, mostly yellow and blue in colour. Overall a great fort to see and well worth the visit.

The Dohara fort is a famous fort where several scenes of the popular film, Rang De Basanti, were shot. Because the film was a raging success, the fort got another name, the RDB fort. This picturesque fort is about 2 hours away from Chandigarh, near Ludhiana.

Mughalsarai, located along the Grand Trunk Road, also called Sadak-e-Azam by Sher Shah Suri, was one of the corridors connecting North India with the east during the Mughal period. In past centuries, it has been variously known as Mughalchak, Mangalpur and Oven Nagar.[3] The township was named Mughalsarai when Indian railways established a junction here in 1883.

Mughalsarai is among one of the richest nagarpalikas in Uttar Pradesh and is called mini mahanagar.

Sadhana Singh is MLA (BJP), and Santosh Kharwar is the present chairman (BJP) of nagarpalika parishad Mughalsarai.

Lal Bahadur Shastri, India's second Prime Minister, was born in Mughalsarai.

LocationEdit

Mughalsarai is bisected by NH 19/GT Road in three parts. The northern part mainly consists of railway colonies like Vasant Vihar, New Central Colony, Diesel Colony, Haper Colony, Mahmoodpur, Shubhash Nagar, Loco Colony and Roza Colony, Plant-Depot Colony and Saresar, Alampur. It starts after the Parao Road in Varanasi and continues until Alinagar Road which comes after Railway Colony on the south. It also has a few mohallas near the railway station, like Qassab mohal, and gram panchayats like Amoghpur, Taranpur, Pashurampur, Dharamshala, Mainatali and Galla mandi. Colonies in other parts of town are Kailashpuri, Ravinagar, and Patel Nagarand Shubhash Nagar.

RailwaysEdit

The Mughalsarai Railway Station is the fourth busiest station in India, with about 125 passenger trains passing through the Mughalsarai Junction. Two important railway lines intersect at the junction. In 2018, Mughalsarai was renamed to Deendayal Upadhyay station by the government of Uttar Pradesh.

This is made by Sher Shah Suri, for the workers who were working on the Grand trunk road.
People often reach here, mistaking it to be the Fort shown in Rand de Basanti. It's actually prettier than the RBD Fort. There is also a small masjid in the Saran. It's curious how this non- Mughal peice of architecture came to be know as 'Mughal' Saran. If you find out please let me know too.

It's on walking distance from Doraha bus stop. You will also find very curious autos which are often called 'chuchundars' owing to their pointy fronts.

This place is my childhood favorite place it is near to my house. During my school time I use to spend my time there because it is a peaceful place. The history of this place is that it was a guest house of King Sher Shah Suri. There was an under path to Lahor. This place is renovated now.

It is just 500 meter away from NH1, but can’t be visible from the Highway. It is a must watch place for all, the charm of the big fort is too good and one can spent as much as time here and enjoy the Mughal architecture works

This fort was built by the Mughal king for the travelers who used to do business on the Grand Trunk Road.
