Really good food overall.

1. Meals are the best with more than 6 curries
2. Authentic taste
3. Fish fry in addition to meals is excellent. Personally wouldn't suggest to take fish polichatti since it's a bit spicy, the fish fry in kerala style is a good replacement for that.

Visited here with my dad on a quiet afternoon for lunch and had the veg thali meals and dragon chicken and my dad ordered the fish fry for himself . The thali and the fish fry albeit a bit too oily were so good that my father got an extra fish fry as takeaway. The dragon chicken was spicy but could have been better.

The restaurant was clean and the ambience and food make it the perfect place for tourists to taste authentic Kerala cuisine.

A top-notch restaurant in Varkala, close to the cliffs, offers delicious food with ample parking. Known for its renowned fish varieties and Kerala special meals, the place boasts a delightful ambiance. The supportive staff and effective ventilation on the first floor ensure a comfortable dining experience, even in warmer weather.

When we visited Varkala, we were looking for a restaurant that would fulfill the following conditions: pleasant ambience, delicious food, and reasonable price. While the first two conditions would have been fulfilled by most of the restaurants in the cliff, not even one of them had a menu with reasonable pricing. We asked the locals and they suggested Chimney restaurant.

Now, I've visited many restaurants and in almost all of them Naan will be disappointing, but for the first time, I ate the scrumptious butter naan from Chimney and quickly became a fan of it. Their Beef was well-cooked and flavorsome. Wheat Paratha was authentic, and Chicken Briyani tasted good. Fish dishes were expensive so we didn't order them. The fruit salad didn't have one bad tasting fruit in it which was surprising.

We visited the restaurant twice to fulfill our appetite during our two day stay at Varkala, and they didn't disappoint us!

We tried: Chicken Noodles, Chicken Briyani, Chicken Fried Rice, Beef Roast, Butter Naan, Chimney Special Chicken Gravy, Wheat Paratha, Kerala Paratha, Ice Cream, Fruit Salad, Lemon Soda, Butter Chicken Gravy.

Recommended Dishes: Butter Naan, Butter Chicken Gravy, Wheat Paratha, Beef Roast, and Fruit Salad.

The good:
Excellent ambience and service. Food choices for everyone.. and good portion sizes. Presentation of food is also great.
And prices are reasonable too.

The not so good:
Food taste is not authentic.. the seerfish masala was too sour. Butter chicken was too sweet. I could go on.

Great experience with chimminey..!

It is one of the best restaurants in varkala.
We tried their special kozhi roast and pothu roast. Both are tasty, and their paneer butter masala is one of the best dishes for vegetarians.
Creamy chicken soups are average compared to others.
Porotta is also comparatively good.
Need to address their services and their ambiance.

parking facilities -apprx. 6 cars

A must try restaurant in Varkala area for sea food lovers. We have tried Avoli Pollichathu, Neymeen Molly, Chembally Fry and Prawns. All dishes were good and met our expectations. Visited this place a second time and had a Fish curry meal which was also yummy. Food, service and the vibe here are nice; will definitely visit here again in our next Varkala visit 👌🏼

The service staff were lovely + Very professional. The ghee rice was to die for. I want to bathe in it. The banana leaf fish was an experience you don’t want to miss. Some of the best I’ve tasted in India so far
The only thing was I wish they would play some indian /local music rather than the cheesy western pop covers

When asked for recommendations for.sea food in Varkala town, everyone suggested Chimney and it was worth it! We were a group of 30 people and as the restaurant was already crowded with the local people, we are able to get seats in various tables. The first floor tables are nice and has a beautiful and well maintained huge fish tank.

The dishes were yummy, especially their policha meen, beef curry and karimeen were amazing.

This restaurant was one of the best for me during my two-week stay in India. The prices are fair and the food is really very, very tasty. I particularly enjoyed the various fish dishes. The hygiene also seemed to be great and the waiters were helpful and gave advice on what to eat.
Especially compared to the tourist restaurants on the beach, this restaurant sets the bar considerably higher in terms of quality, flavour and value for money.

Such a lovely restaurant with a moorish, traditional feel with wooden and brick interiors and a roof that looks thatched. The entrance leads you to a mini bridge below which is housed kois and other fresh water fishes and water plants.
We had the traditional kerala vegetarian meal, also called as "oonu" (in the local language) along with fish grilled in a banana leaf (meen pollichathu) and fish tawa fry - the fish being Pearl Spot (Karimeen).
The meen pollichathu was lovely with a good mix of masala complimenting the lovely soft grilled fish. The tawa fry had a good char and was crisp on the outside and lush on the inside. The vegetarian meal had good flavour with each dish independently adding value and at the same time giving depth and breadth to the dish.
