AVVAs - Speciality South Indian Café

A great restaurant with good ambiance and multiple seating options from rooftop to open seating. From the rooftop it is very easy and enjoyable to see the landing paraglider in good number. The food is tasty and lite. Overall it is a good option for South Indian food lovers .

Great South Indian food !

We ordered Appe, mix Uttapam, avva special dosa and tea and all were very tasty with decent pricing, they also server complimentary chana rasam which was also nice
.
They have a nice ambience, service was nice dedicated parking, plenty of inside /outside sitting options.
Washroom could be cleaner though.

Had to visit this cafe after reading all the raving reviews and I must say this place lives up to the hype. The cafe is so simply beautiful. They have a ground and first floor seating as well as an outdoors space. We ended up sitting outdoors as the weather was pleasant. Food is ordered through the app and they serve a complimentary glass of rasam with some brown chana as well. We ordered the ghee podi dosa, the uttapam and the medu vada. All three were exceptionally delicious. The sambhar and chutney were so good, it was surprising to find such good south indian fare so far up north. We had the chai and the aam panna from the beverages, both of which were good. The service is prompt. They have also started serving more main course items as well such as biryani. Hoping to try it the next time we visit!

I will never be done with this place. One of the best places serving dosas and south indian meals in all of Bir, may be even all of himachal. TBH, I have visited Bir just for Avva's cafe at times. They will welcome you with Rassam and boiled chana. Its difficult to chose the best out of their menu since everything is made to perfection. I still order Chettinad or Avva's special dosa paired with buttermilk more often than anything else.
I have met the owner and his son a couple of times and they are warm and lively. Never met the 'Avva' yet whose recipes have created such wonderful food (hopefully I will)
They have recently expanded and added parking space as well as few tables. The place is walking distance from bir landing site. Avva's is a must visit in Bir.

I prefer this cafe if you are south indian lover. It has a variety of options. I tried variety of dosa their and their hot coffee is too awesome.

I think this is the only South Indian breakfast serving hotel around the area.

The hotel pirse is on the higher side, but felt nice to have something different after getting tired from toasts and sandwiches.

Did not expect much from a south indian cafe in the hills but I’m quite impressed with tasty food and beautiful views from the cafe.
Must try if you’re looking for something apart from momos and Siddu in Bir.

I Loved south indian vibes in the hills.
This is a pure veg south indian restaurant.
Views from here are just amazing.
Both outside and inside dining is there.
We tried Uttapam, Masala Dosa, Onion Appe, Mendu Vada which were too delicious.
This is a must visit restaurant if you are in Bir, Himachal.

I had an incredible experience at Avvas Cafe! This authentic South Indian cafe is a hidden gem, and it won my heart with its delectable cuisine and inviting atmosphere.

My favorite dish was their special dosa – it was an absolute delight for the taste buds, perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with mouthwatering flavors. But the best part was the warm hospitality. As soon as you take your seat, they serve complimentary rasam and boiled channa, and I must say, it's a delightful touch that adds to the overall experience. The rasam is packed with spices and warmth, and the boiled channa was a pleasant surprise with its savory goodness.

The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming,I can't wait to return and explore more of their South Indian offerings. Avvas Cafe is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic South Indian flavors in a friendly and inviting setting. Highly recommended!

This place is a VIBEEEE !! EVERYTHING WE ORDERED HERE WAS SIMPLY AMAZING. Mysore Dosa, Sun - Dried Tomato Paste Dosa and Medu Vada. That was the order and it was SUPERB!

I stayed at Bir for two months and Avva's cafe always felt warm and like a home away from home. Delicious food, vegan-friendly, cutest doggos and such an incredible view. I can still taste the welcome drink (Rasam) and channa on a cool rainy day, such a blessing. Do go for this cafe, you don't regret it :")

Visited Avva's for the second time on my trip to Bir, ordered a Basic Ghee Roast Masala Dosa on the first day and next morning we ordered a Cheese Pepper Dosa (it was v tasty) with a nice cup of filter coffee. Outdoor seating is bliss for the Winter season! The cafe is pocket friendly and offers tasty south Indian delicacies.

It's a south Indian speciality cafe, with plethora of options and absolutely delicious food.
The cafe setting is pretty laid back and rustic. There is a water stream around the outside sitting which gives a perfect white noise of flowing water with hills in the background.
Each table has a QR Code for self ordering. Great experience overall.

The most well known and best place around in the mountains for authentic South Indian food. The cafe is very close to the landing site of Bir and one can chase some mind blowing sunsets from the rooftop of this cafe. They have a variety of South Indian food options to chose from. From types of Idlis to dosas and lip smacking rice dishes, they have it all on the menu. Filter coffee and Aam panna is a must try from their menu along with their super special dosa. Watch the gliders glide over the sky as you enjoy a piping hot chana rasam with the setting sun as the back drop. A perfect place to be at paired with good food.

Avva's is located in a grassy garden with huge windows looking towards the mountains and paragliders floating in the distance. The cuisine is authentically South Indian, with soft, crunchy medu vada served with tangy sambhar and coconut chutney. I'd recommend their masala dosa, it was just the right mixture of crisp and fluffy, with a delicious potato-onion filling. Everything's served in steel vessels, just as in the South. The filter coffee will make you feel homesick, if you hail from anywhere south of the Vindhyas.

very cute authentic south indian with the cutest dog mira. We ordered appe , aam panna, podi idli and dosa. Taste was 10/10. Ambiance 10/10. If in bir and craving for South Indian then it's the best place to be.
The welcome drink was a great touch and introduction to avva's style of cooking and taste. I loved it.

If you are coming to Bir, you probably are coming to Avva’s.
The story, the food, the views.
I came here in 2018 for the first time and now I can’t have a dosa in life without comparing to Avva’s (rather failing to).
The staff is so hospitable as well. Do ask for experimental flavours and sweets.

PS - you might get lucky and run into the uncle aunty who run this legendary cafe.
