Castel Savoia

Absolutely beautiful. If you have the time, it deserves a visit. The castle is kept in perfect conditions, the guide is very good and explains everything very well and easily to remember ( but in italian ) and the surroundings are just magical.

A fantastic discovery. If you cross the area , dont miss it. It is like a fairy tail and the guide is very nice knowlegeable. A beautiful historical site

Absolutely fantastic place, I recommend walk from beautiful Lake Gover. It is 30 minutes nice forrest path with some very nice views and waterfall. The entrance to castle area is free and dogs are allowed there and we spent there more than hour enjoining the views. We didnt enter the castle itself but still it was magical visit!

Such a magical place. Used to be the summer residency of Queen Margherita di Savoia. Really impressive architecture and interiors. Totally worth doing the guided tour!

About 2 weeks ago, we went to the mountain resort 1385 meters above the sea called Gressoney-Saint-Jean (Aosta Valley), where Castel Savoia is located. There is the Lyskamm Glacier and the Monte Rosa Mountains as a spectacular backdrop.Queen Margherita loved the mountains with all her heart. The guide told me that Gressoney-Saint-Jean was not very popular at that time, but the queen was invited by a German baron to stay at his private villa in 1889. Later on, she wanted to build a private residence in the valley, which was built at an altitude of 1,440 meters above sea level. It was designed by architect Emilio Stramucci and took 5 years to build (completed in 1904).There is a botanical garden in front of the castle. It is a rock garden where they plant mountain flowers. While driving up there, you will find lovely mountain villages. But what I like most is Gressoney-Saint-Jean. We got lucky to see a flower market by chance. What a wonderful atmosphere.

I like this place. Outside of the castel, there is a small botanical garden where plants from all over the world have been planted.

Beautiful castle with available tours every 30 minutes or so. The views are mesmerizing and everything inside the castle is original including the paint on the walls. Parking in front on the castle fills up very quickly, but if you continue the main road towards the back there are additional 10 public parking spots about 800 meters from the castle.

Wonderful place and guides. Service was excellent and elegance atmosphere.

One of the best Castle in Italy I have visited. considering to price, there is a guide which speaks Italian. this place is very cozy, well-organized, and it has beautiful decoration. Walking trail to the castle is also really nice

Very nice to visit, one of the few castels that conserve it's original construction as well as decorations, there are not many furnitures. A magnificent parorama, through the windows, the garden (even though a little dry when I visited today), the glacier and green trees.

Fascinating house, and the guide was absolutely brilliant. Guided tour was in Italian, but he made us feel very welcome and had time to give us info in English as well. Absolutely worth the drive up the valley.
