Today we visited Oliva Farmhouse (www.agricolaoliva.it) outside of Solarino, Sicily. This special farm is just 15 minutes from Ortigia/Syracusa. We were openly welcomed by Francesca ( her family’s farm) and by Naomi (our tour guide).
Naomi started the tour with a history of the farm and a walking tour through the lemon grove and the olive orchard. She explained the processes of harvesting and production.
The oil tasting was amazing, like no other we have experienced. The small batch, organic, extra virgin olive oil that Oliva Farm produces is of the highest quality that is available in Sicily, in our opinion!
We had a wonderful lunch of regional Sicilian foods and local wine. We really enjoyed the entire experience.
When visiting Sicily, make your way to this unique farm. It’s a true, authentic experience of Sicilian craftsmanship and pride in their traditions and culture.

My colleagues, and I visited Farm Oliva last Thursday . Francesca was so welcoming and informative. She is clearly proud of their farm and the products they make, which comes across in the tasting experience. What a fun educational experience to understand how different olive oils can be. I highly recommend a visit! Francesca keep up the good work.

Last week, our family spent a wonderful afternoon at Farm Oliva. We all love olive oil, but knew little about its production. Francesca welcomed us and then we had the absolute pleasure of spending the rest of the time with Naomi - our amazing guide. Our tour given by Naomi was informative and fun. She gave us a brief history of the olive and lemon farm, the area and walked us through the process of olive oil production - beginning with the olive tree, harvesting of the olives to the end result of their top quality, organic extra virgin olive oil. After the tour, we learned how to properly taste and feel the olive oil in our mouth. Each one possessing a different flavor and feel. All outstanding! Naomi - you made our day - it shows that you love what you do! It is obvious that Francesca and her family are passionate about their way of life. Thank you for sharing that with us. We will fondly remember our time spent with both of you and are grateful to have shipped several bottles home to enjoy with everything. We hope to return to Sicily some day! (Ps - I forgot to mention while there that my great grandmother was Rosa Olivo- perhaps we are family!)

Beautiful place! Noemi was guiding us through the Olive & Lemon Garden, sharing her extensive knowledge and passion for organic products. We are leaving knowing much more about growing lemons and olives. Olive oil from Favolo itself is just a difference experience.

On March 28, our family spent a lovely morning at Farm Oliva-Frantoio , a family run olive and lemon farm in southeast Sicily near Siracusa. We enjoyed the walk through the lemon grove and olive orchard, while learning about how this family sustainably raises organic lemons. They also cultivate organic olives which they use to create four types of outstanding olive oil.We were especially impressed by the traditional methods, and obvious respect and care of their land and how they do not waste anything. One example is that the crushed olive pits become stove pellets.
After the tour we were treated to snacks of local products and tasting of their oils. The tour was educational as well as a delightful look at rural southeast Sicily. Francesca, our guide as well as the rest of the family and employees spoke excellent English and facilitated our delightful morning in rural sunny Sicily.
It is best to reserve. agricolaoliva.it/favola-tour/

My husband, mother-in-law, and I visited Farm Oliva in the Fall. Francesca was so welcoming and informative. She is clearly proud of their farm and the products they make, which comes across in the tasting experience. What a fun educational experience to understand how different olive oils can be. I highly recommend a visit! I am happy to now call Francesca a friend!

It's a short drive from Siracusa and well worth a visit! They speak perfect english and give a lot of information about their produce. Never had an olive oil tasting before and the quality was top. They also ship abroad!

While staying in Ortigia we drove with our host into the countryside. As we passed the Favola Olive Farm we decided to stop. As we love olive oils, it was exciting to visit this friendly shop. We were graciously welcomed by the owners & given tastes & explanations of the various oils. Although we planned to only buy 1 bottle we finally bought 4 different flavors. Somehow we’ll find a way to fit them in our luggage for the flights home. When I asked to see the processing area we were delighted to see the entire process from the crates of olives being poured into the machines through washing & further processing! We loved our time there & encourage visitors to take the formal tour.

Beyond the sustainable aspect (which is not to be overlooked- plastic free bottles, harvest by hand to protect the trees, and start to finish processes) Francesca and Noemi were amazing!! They walked us through the growth process of the lemons and olive trees, gave thorough explanations of the extra virgin olive oils, and cooked an amazing dinner with the extra virgin oil pairing suggestions. Highlight of our trip to sicily and HIGHLY recommend visiting!!

Lovely people and products! We dropped by without prior notice because we wanted to buy some olive oil before we left Sicily, and they gave us a thorough tasting experience! They’re a 70-year old company and will happily show you the olive oil extraction machines and tell you all about their oils. Super delicious. Highly recommended!

My family and I (group of 8) visited here last week, just before the tourist season really kicked off. It was absolutely lovely and we all really enjoyed the experience. We did a tour of the lemon orchard and also did a tour of their olive oil processing. We learned so much during both - and sampling the fresh lemons and doing an olive oil tasting were a real treat. Francesca is wonderful as are the rest of the staff - very welcoming, friendly, and all shared an absolute wealth of information. Thank you so much for a true Sicilian experience!

What an incredible experience! Naomi was extremely knowledgeable and explained olive oil production in a way that was understandable to all. Tasting the different varieties of olive oil blew my mind and it’s safe to say eating shop-bought olive oil will not live up to the same taste. 10/10 experience - would recommend!

A truly beautiful experience visiting Farm Oliva. We walked through he Lemon & Orange grove while learning the history of the farm. A visit to the olive oil processing center help us appreciate the work that goes into producing a premium quality extra virgin olive oil. Then we ended with a very pleasurable tastings of different grades and flavors of their oil. And of course purchasing some to bring home.

I highly recommend the tour of Farm Oliva. It was good to support a small batch producer, who has an excellent product.

Great personal tour, very informative and nice. Good tasting with different olive oils and some food to pair it with. We also got to try an olive oil with imperfections for comparison which was fun and educational to try.
