The Fontana Maggiore

A beautiful fontain in the Piazza IV Novembre. Perugia is a historic city, well worth a visit. I visited in August & it wasn't crowded at all. Lots to see or just take in the ambience at a nearby cafe.

It's always an unforgettable experience being there during the Umbria Jazz Festival , every year , since 2006.

Fontana was very romantic in this lovely city, of course the one in Rome is more romantic but the one in Perugia was not crowded, so the whole Fontana Maggiore was for yourself☺

No tickets needed is free in general!

Beautiful area with many shops.

The historic center is very compact and easy to stroll around. The city itself still preserves that ancient Medieval charm that makes you feel back in time. Fontana Maggiore is an absolute must.

For me the best round fountain in the middle of a square I have seen....till now. Sure there is Trevi, but it is not round and is stuck to the building....so.
Little statues on the side are beautiful and is close to 800years old, so amazing Middle ages achivement.

The Fontana Maggiore is the central sight of the old square, next to the famous sights Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria and Perugia Cathedrale.

A very beautiful work of art in the main city square. If I'm not mistaken, the centerpiece is in the shape of a flower which represents life. Drinkable water in medieval times (as it is today) was a very precious commodity.

The monument is the symbol of the city of Perugia.

It's the centre of Peruia .. place full of people and markets .. i liked the nightlife and the people there it's safe and there is always police near the street to make sure that no problems happen .. and it's easy to reach from the parking
