Porta Romana

A great walk around the walls and then to find the entry gates is fantastic.

This is Florence. In the middle of the street there is a huge door with walls and you guess the date, yes during renaissance. Just great. Walking down the gate appeared walking in 13th century. Nice experience.

Lovely neighborhood mostly locals which is so genuine and beautiful. Several great cafés restaurants good homemade food grocery store laundry fresh vegetable and fruit stand also homemade soups and sandwiches free standing all against the backdrop of the ancient wall and arch…. just amazing to see.

Florence the city of wonders, one of them is the Roman Gate, built in the 13th century, it's fantastic!

Very cool to see and walk right up to/touch. Love that it still has the big doors and seems to be well maintained and clean.

Aim for this if you need a central parking spot in Florence. Go through the far left arch and immediate left to enter the parking.

Inner city limit. Only locals and public transport allowed on business hours.

This is the southern gate access to Florence. If you're feeling hungry. There is a great pasticerria just on the outside of the inner city. It's called Moka Efti. It's on the western side of the round about by the gate. If you happen to be in the area. Tell the staff that Rick sent you. Don't forget, On your way out the door to tell them on the way out the door. Buon giornata.

Huge gate !! This was one of the highlights of the day seeing how bit it was.

Roman Gate of Florence takes to siena

Just a gate. Nothing less nothing more.

I parked here simply because it's the entrance to the centre and a easy land mark to get back too.

Porta Romana ("Roman Gate") is a former city gate of Milan, Italy. In its present form, the gate dates back to the 16th century Spanish walls of Milan; its origins can be traced further back to the Roman walls of the city, which had a corresponding "Roman Gate" roughly in the same area. Porta Romana was the first and the main imperial entrance of the entire city of Milan, as it was the starting point of the road leading to Ancient Rome.

A very cool, old gate that is immense in size. Just staring at it you can truly imagine yourself visiting Florence back in the rennaisance.
