Nice tower inside the piazza. Can be visited for €6. However, it was closed when we were there.

Near by, there are a few nice attractions within 5 min walk.

Great tour from the guide and the "climb" is rewarded with an awesome view over the city, definitely worth the price!

It’s near the Piazzale Michelangelo so you can visit it during your time to visit piazzale, there are lots of towers like this but it’s important because there is an under way between this and next one

The Tower of San Niccolò, once part of a gate or porta in the former defensive walls of Florence, is now located, isolated in piazza Giuseppe Poggi, in the district of Oltrarno, Florence, region of Tuscany, Italy.

Porta San Niccolò is a historic gate and is part of the medieval city walls that once protected the city.

Currently, the gate is covered with netted scaffolding as it undergoes renovation.

Renaissance Architecture from the XVI century. Just beside the tower a beautiful fountain and park. Good for stroll with dog and family. Amazing ambience to spend free time. Just upwards the Giardino di Bobolli. I highly recommend Florence, it is an open wide museum the entire city itself. History and art in every single corner

Really great looking tower

San Niccolo Tower should be followed by visiting "Michelangelo's plaza". You can enjoy the whole sight of the city both in the morning or evening. If you visit in day light, you can also watch the walls in still remain on the plaza with a watcher's eyes.

Fantastic climb with different perspective on Firenze

The Tower of San Niccolò, once part of a gate or porta in the former defensive walls of Florence, is now located, isolated in piazza Giuseppe Poggi, in the district of Oltrarno, Florence, region of Tuscany, Italy. The portal was first erected in 1324.

The tower and its gate were elaborated in the designs of Arnolfo di Cambio for circumferential walls around Florence. These walls were, in the main, destroyed in the 19th century as a project of urban renewal, Risanamento, in part led by Giuseppe Poggi. This tower was spared, in part because of its panoramic view of the city. There are 160 steps to the summit.

Nice part of the city. San Niccolo and his tower are pretty charming. This is a nice quartiere of the city with amazing views and pretty close to the Piazzale Michelangelo by foot.

Can’t wait to get a chance to go to the top now that it is open to the public.

Just below the Piazza Michelangelo, it's historic and part of the old walls protecting the historic city.
