Villa il Poggiale

Absolutely in love with this Villa! My family and I stayed at this villa for my sisters wedding in July. It was truly magical. The rooms are all so unique, beautifully decorated and filled with history. The rooms are extremely clean and the air conditioning works very well. The staff is filled with dedicated hard workers that did an incredible job at the wedding and provided the guests with excellent service throughout our stay. I cannot say enough about Monica who arranged everything during our stay as well as served as an incredible wedding planner. Monica answered all of our questions, needs, and requests. She handled ALL of the wedding details, coordinated with the vendors, and made sure everything was the way my sister wanted. She was always patient, kind, and respectful. The wedding was absolutely perfect and Monica is a huge reason the day was such a success. During our stay, we really enjoyed hanging out by the pool and the food is delicious. I definitely recommend this villa for a wedding, family reunion, or a getaway!!! We will definitely be back..

This is our first night here and we were amazed by how beautiful this villa is. With history back from 1400s, this villa is well decorated with great taste and strong authenticity of Tuscany style. Its library room with the wine bar is my favorite. The service is warm and friendly and the food here is terribly delicious.

Villa il Poggiale is the perfect destination for relax, fine food & wine, excellent service & enjoying the harmony and beauty of Tuscany.

Really helpful and kind staff! The villa itself is quite large with many different areas to relax, enjoy the views and drink quality wine! The four course dinner was really tasty where each dish consisted of quality local products. The restaurant has stunning views of the Tuscan landscape and sunset. Last but not least, the massage/treatment provided by Alessandro was exactly what we needed to reset ourselves after many days of traveling throughout the country and being drained of energy. Everyone should definitely try one of the massages/treatments!

Our first time to the Tuscany region. We couldn't have stayed at a more beautiful, welcoming Villa. Staff was attentive and extremely helpful, whether it was suggesting tours or recommending excellent eating opportunities. A memorable trip was had by all.

This centuries old villa is a perfect base for soaking in the beauty of Tuscany. While the historic building is old the accommodations are modern and very comfortable. The staff is first rate and the food is a total treat.

Loved staying here for 4 nights with my husband and another couple in this elegant villa in San Casciano. The pool is wonderful, the service amazing and friendly and the setting is magical. Absolutely one of the best parts of our two week trip to Italy. No complaints at all. We had incredible food and the patio was a wonderful place to enjoy it. There were some larger groups there (cruise groups) but they handled it all well. Would love to return.

Hope to get back soon. What a picturesque villa. Like something out of a postcard. Set just outside of the village within a beautifully landscaped acreage, this could not have been a nice place to stay. Mateo greeted us upon our arrival and personally showed us around the villa and the grounds. Polite, professional and informative, his review was perfect way to start our stay. The rooms are nicely furnished, with a nice library for relaxing in and grounds that are both stunning and provide an awesome view. Mateo topped off our stay by recommending a local restaurant that was better than we could have wished for. Five stars and plans to get back as soon as we can!

We wanted a little bit of chill time between visiting Lucca and Florence and then Cinque Terre. The choice of hillside villas or farms is endless but we fell upon this one and I’m so glad we did! Firstly, we opted for dinner, bed and breakfast. I’m always a little concerned when we go for a dinner inclusive rate as you become a captive audience. No such worry at all here! As an example, dinner is four courses - first night was little tempura cheese parcels, followed by pasta with the most delicious homemade pesto, pork fillet with roasted vegetables and then creme brûlée. All served on a delightful terrace. Oh and a great wine menu! Breakfast is extensive and plentiful and has the yellowest eggs I’ve ever seen! We booked direct with the hotel ( the most delightful owner I have had the pleasure to meet), Do do this, you will get the best rate. The villa has always been a residence and it really does feel like you are part of someone’s home rather than some faceless, corporate hotel. The swimming pool is lovely , comfy beds surround and towels are provided each day. We opted for a superior room but were shown several before settling on one. It was huge with a huger comfy bed and very efficient air con. Plentiful hot water with shower and bath and great water pressure.
We visited San Gimignano one day and you aren’t far from Sienna if you want to venture out. Free parking on site.
We were lucky enough to sit and watch a fabulous lightning show on our second evening as the view across the Tuscan Hills is spectacular. Every single member of the team is friendly and personable. No one can do enough for you. We even opted for massages on our third day as the weather was changeable.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough so all I’d say is, if you’re wavering, don’t. Just do it. You’ll not regret it!

Oh what a magical Villa! This was our 2nd stay (our first was in '19) and so happy to have returned. All the staff are wonderful and very caring and helpful. I really can't imagine staying at a better place in Tuscany! It was sad to leave after 8 wonderful nights, but should I return to Tuscany, the Villa will see me for a third time!

My family and I spent two wonderful nights at this spectacular villa in San Casciano. The location, grounds and views from the villa were absolutely beautiful!! The bedrooms and common areas are very comfortable and accommodating. The breakfast and dinners were excellent and the staff was friendly and helpful. We all had a fantastic experience at The Villa il Poggiale it was one of the highlights of our Italy vacation. Highly recommended! Wish we could have stayed longer and hope to come back again soon!

A remarkably traditional hotel with high standards of dress-code, curtesy ,
comfort and cleanliness. A very well provided for breakfast buffet adds to the overall excellent hospitality experienced by demanding and discerning guests. If you want a showy, loud bar, with automated music everywhere, forget it! You come here if you enjoy softness of speech and manner.
A rare and extremely pleasant stay that i hope to renew in the near future.

Fantastic stay! Wonderful location and food. The staff is professional and friendly, with real expertise on local wines.

We first stayed at Villa il Poggiale in 2009 (before children); this year we returned with our two daughters and were delighted to see how little it had changed. It was a home from home for us: comfortable, quiet, beautifully located and appointed for the comfort of the guests. The food is excellent (with a special credit for the home-made cakes on the breakfast buffet which were a hit with everyone): the dinner menu is varied, attractive and most enjoyable. All of the staff are charming and helpful, and can provide great suggestions for outings/itineraries. It is sufficiently close to Florence that one can drive in, park, and be in the centre within 40 minutes, but is a great jumping-off point for explorations of the rest of the region. San Casciano itself is a charming place and very easy to access from the hotel. We are already looking forward to a future visit!

Thank you for a stay in a fabulous place! The four of us felt this was the highlight of our trip as we were provided with a comfortable space and the staff was superb. The rooms were large and well appointed. Loved that there was a spot to sit and watch sunsets with a glass of wine. Dinner onsite at night was good with choices that were unique each night. Would definitely recommend this place to fellow travelers.

We recently stayed at Villa il Poggiale for 4 nights prior to our nieces wedding in Tuscany. The Villa, staff , food and view were all amazing. When I said we I should have elaborated. We meant, my entire family which included 9 children ages 9 months to 7 years and 23 adults. Monica and Fredrica made sure we had everything we would need. They helped with setting up tours and gave suggestions for sightseeing. The food was fantastic with the chef making sure our little ones had what they needed for their meals. The staff made sure we were able to eat as a family each meal. Everyone at the Villa made us feel as if we were their only clients when in fact they had a full house. We could not have had a better experience for our stay in Italy. The Villa was clean, beautiful, had so much character and had unbelievable scenery. Our children played in the grassy courtyard just as I imagine the owners of the Villa did as children. I only hope that I can come back to the Villa some day in the future. Thank you again to the entire staff of the Villa for making us feel at home in Italy.

The setting is idyllic, the Villa is exquisite, the staff is attentive, gracious, and polished. The guest rooms/suites are authentic and well appointed, the public spaces are as close as they can functionally be to their distinguished heritage, and the owners were on site from time to time - a nice touch indeed.
The food and wine are authentic without being pretentious, and the kitchen and waitstaff are skilled, energetic and a genuine delight to engage in conversation.
Sitting on the terrace, looking across the valley toward the setting sun and an Orsini Villa and vineyard, drinking a very nice white, anticipating dinner, makes one appreciate the true spirit of Tuscany.

From the day I first called to inquire about this beautiful, romantic and quaint vineyard house, I felt right at home. All of the staff made us feel part of their family. There was no request too big or too small in their accommodation of our stay with them in wonderful Tuscany. They were always ready with directions and suggestions for the benefit of our once-in-a life time vacation. We did travel around to some of the walled cities but as evening approached we always headed back 'home' to eat dinner. We tried several places to eat and the Villa staff was always ready to describe and give directions to other area restaurants, but the 4 of us always wanted to eat at the Villa.
Other things to consider:

Everything was very clean
Beautiful sunsets
Tuscany history, beauty, wines, food
Very romantic, relaxing vacation

I will return someday and I highly recommend this property for both young and not so young people who love Tuscany.

All in all we were very satisfied with our stay in the Villa il Poggiale. We had two rooms. One room, room number 21 was on the first floor and was very nice. The other room, room number 25 was a bit too small and was also quite noisy as it was near the staff's parking.
The place itself is beautiful and has a charm of old times. The maintenance of the place is superb and one can feel that the people care dearly of keeping the place intact.
The breakfast was lovely with a nice choice of everything you could think of.
We had each day dinner at the hotel, which was very nice, but lacked of change of variety in the main course and each day there were really the same kind of meat offers.
The staff was very nice and helpful and gave us good tips about parking in the nearby wonderful towns.
As for the location, you could't ask for a better place. Near to every place in the beautiful Toscana.
And by now you can imagine that we will return to Villa il Poggiale.
