Ristorante La Vecchia Cucina

Occasionally one finds a small unassuming restaurant and is delighted. Last night at Ristorante La Vecchia Cucina in Marcellano (on an unassuming side street) was one of those times. It was delightful, warm, friendly and the service was great.

We had:
- as a free appetiser a sort of barley and mixed vegetable compote. Unusual but very good.
- Pecorino, honey, walnuts lightly melted. Absolutely superb.
- A enormous plate of mixed salumi.
- Strongozzi cacio e pepe, which was excellent and seemed to have a slight twist: egg yolk?
- Tagliata with rosemary and coarse salt
- A delicious Montefalco rosso

Sadly no room for dessert, but a fantastic meal start to finish.

This was the best meal we had in the area. The truffle pasta was out of this world, and the other two pastas were close behind. We also tried the rosemary garlic steak and truffle steak which were both cooked perfectly with the beautiful fresh taste of rosemary.

The atmosphere seemed like we were in someone’s house. Local atmosphere. The service was great and attentive. The menus were all in Italian and the service didn’t speak much English but that’s what made the experience that much better.

Popped into this place for some lunch.

We had the goose tagliatelle and the fava and guanciale strangozzi. Both were excellent. Wonderful sauces with bread for dipping afterwards.

Excellent little place well worth a visit for lunch or dinner.

Pasta dishes were around 12 EUR.

This place was recommended by the winery we were at. Very quiet, beautiful surroundings and terrace. Food was great and excellent service.

Il locale: La presenza del caminetto acceso in sala rende l'atmosfera molto calda, ampia scelta di vini custodita in bellissime vetrine di legno.
Personale: Molto cortese, accogliente e disponibile, ti fanno sentire un ospite speciale.
Cibo: Una scelta per tutti i gusti, sapori locali magistralmente eseguiti e presentati.
La semplicità e l'accoglienza ripagano sempre.
Struttura consigliatissima.
Torneremo presto.

Beh, stasera ho mangiato veramente bene. Il menù non è così ampio ma tutti gli alimenti sono di grande qualità.
Buonissimi i crostini, straordinaria la tartare battuta a coltello. Ottimi i dolci e buonissimo il calice di vino. Gentilezza e cortesia del personale che hanno saputo accontentare le richieste. Da consigliare e tornare.

Locale accogliente ...personale gentile e professionale. Tutto molto buono..si sente che utilizzano materie prime di qualità. Abbiamo preso tre primi differenti..tutti veramente molto buoni e la carne come secondo..tagliata di manzo tenerissima e agnello scottadito superlativo. A fine pasto ci hanno omaggiati di un dolcetto..biscotti fatti in casa buonissimii. Siamo capitati un po' per caso ma ci siamo ripromessi di tornare presto.

Ristorante a conduzione famigliare. Giovanni il padre persona squisita, Elia il figlio cuoco, ottimo tra i fornelli, propongono dei piatti cucinati alla grande. Chi passa da quelle parti non esiti a sedersi a tavola. Locale accogliente, informale e pulito. Piatti abbondanti e prezzi modesti. Consigliatissimo

Ambiente pulito ordinato e accogliente, cucina casalinga pochi piatti ma ottimi, crostata di mele allo zabaione superlativa. Giusto il rapporto qualità/prezzo.
