Agriturismo Castellare di Tonda

We went for a couple of days away as a couple but would recommend if you had children. We did the riding lessons there and would also highly recommend. The rooms need a little update but private pool per house was amazing. The building and grounds and views are breath taking.
Amazing views for sunsets and rises.

The spa was a great experience and the restaurant served a great selection of food and wine.

We plan on going back.

The staff are super helpful and accommodating and I had alot of questions before we even got there.

But would highly recommend hiring a car

solid, clean and authentic. do not expect special luxury in the flats.

the superior 1 bedroom flat was app. 40-50qm 2 toilets, but a very small shower.

kitchen is basically equipped.

for the horse people: make sure to book your rides early in advance. Due to high interest and the consecent high standards, the availabilty is limited.

you meet horse people there. the horses are in a really good shape, well trained and not numbed or exploited.

I had a mix of lessons and ride outs. every action and all lessons I took and watched were absolute individual offer for the single rider. no group lessons, unless a family said, that they want to ride together.

price is absolutely fair, taking these aspects into Account.

The Castellare di Tonda

The reception at the Castellare di Tonda was very helpful in making my dream of horseback riding in Toscana a reality. We communicated well throughout the process. To ride there, one must be a guest. I wouldn’t have a car for my week’s stay so I was a little concerned about how it would work out. Transportation was no problem as I stayed at the estate the entire week and upon departure, the reception called a very helpful driver to take me to the nearest train station to return to Firenze. I chose the half-board option at the restaurant but also brought some of my own groceries as I knew the apartment had a kitchen. I expected the accommodations to be rustic, but I really didn’t find that to be the case. My apartment was well equipped with everything I needed and more, including air-conditioning! I really liked the decor in my apartment, certain things that made me feel right at home: the artwork, bedding, bed frame, wall colors, kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and the view was perfect to watch the sunrise and June’s full moon rise. Out by the pool, only a few feet away, there was a perfect view of the sunset. I spent each afternoon and many evenings enjoying the swimming pool for sunshine, swimming or to watch the sun go down. The first morning, my riding skills were evaluated in the arena and found adequate for riding out. The trail guide was knowledgable, kind, and instructional. Each morning, I rose early and took breakfast in my apartment. Since we rode in the morning, I was able to change my half-board to paying as I went at the restaurant. Every dish I tried at the restaurant was excellent, but in my opinion the wine from the estate was the best part of the meal. The service was attentive, prompt, and friendly. But I wasn’t there to eat and drink. I wanted to ride! I looked forward to getting out in the Tuscan countryside on horseback, going places I would never be able to another way. I rode for six mornings in June, Sunday-Friday. After breakfast in the apartment or on the terrace, I walked past vineyards to the stable. There the horses and guide were ready for the outing. I put on my helmet and mounted, and the guide tightened the cinch. Then off few went! Each day, we rode a different trail. Some were more challenging than others. We rode through forests and meadows and alongside vineyards. Up hills and down, dodging branches, swatting a few insects, looking out for surprises—normal trail riding things! The trails were very clearly marked and ready for use. We didn’t get lost, even hours away from the stable. The guide always knew where we were and what was coming next. The horses were sure-footed and well-trained. The early spring flowers were past their peak, but there was lovely broom, Queen Anne’s Lace, wild jasmine, some fading roses and chicory just to name a few. The guide and I had wonderful conversations but we could also be quiet and ride, sensing the beauty and goodness of being out on horseback. In advance, the guide would tell me what was coming, a hill, a turn, a road to cross. She would prepare me for a trot or gallop and then we would go! Putting into words the exhilaration of feeling my horse following hers down the paths at a gallop, trot, or even walk seems tame compared to the feeling of flying along on my beautiful horse’s back, the wind rushing over us, the sunlight pouring down on us and the world around us a blur of green. Feeling confident, strong, empowered, and just happy, I couldn’t ask for a better time than I had at the Castellare di Tonda. The stable was extremely well-run and well-maintained, the people were the absolute best, the horses even better, and the entire estate is truly beautiful. When you’re dreaming up something, you never know if the reality will live up to your hopes. The Castellare, the horses, and the guide in particular, exceeded anything I could have dreamed up and gave me one of the very best weeks of my life. I am forever grateful for this experience and highly recommend Castellare di Tonda.

We had our wedding at Castellare di Tonda in june 2022, and it was a perfect experience. 10 out of 10 for Tonda - really perfect. Very recommendable for other couples who are considering this. Dinner was 4-course fine dining with a twist of rustique kitchen. Great italian ingredients. Wines very good (local). The restaurant venue is beautiful (we spiced it up with extra string lights). But most of all I want to compliment Tonda for their excellent service, and willingness to solve small issues in a flash. They were always very flexible to add little extra serivices without asking unreasonable money for it. We had our guests stay all together at Villa Casanuova (around 50 guests), and while the rooms are simple, the place is stunning, provides great privacy and is perfect for and afterparty.

Staff was so kind he bring us 4 or 5 free shots of a local drink. Every Wednesday they have a free music performance, so we were so lucky to been there. Meal was delicious. What a great night!

Simply wow, what a beautiful vacation for us (parents) and our 3 kids. In between a beautiful landscape we found a calm and very nice place to refuel our energy. The kids loved the childcare, offering a lot of activities which are close to or releated to nature. Especially I want to name Coranna (fluent in German, English, Italien) and Patrick who spend so many love to all the kids staying their and always had an ear for everyone. Thank you for this heartful care which is seldomly found in today's fast world.
My first image in mind concerning a family resort was much concrete a big hotel and the usual offerings in the usual way, but what we found in Castellare di Tonda was totally differnt. Everyhing here is seemlessly integrated in nature, no optical harm was done to this beautiful place. Every appartment has a beautiful view, a pool, is good equiped and you have a place to relax and look into the beautiful wide landscape. Everybody, let me repeat Everybody, was open-minded, helpful, friendly with no touch of stress which made this vacation very relaxed for us. We loved the restaurant which is offering buffet or a la carte as you prefer. Their is a little shop offering a very good espresso (highly recommend it) and very sensefull selected sortiment of the best salami, olive-oil, cheese, spagetti, etc. coming from Tuscany.
You can do a lot of sporting activities there or simply relax in the great spa with a jacussi have a panorama view over the hill (see picture) We also had a riding lession for our kids and once again you find here somebody who is living his work and is very senseful and patient with the kids and the horses are very well kept reflecting the attitude close to nature everybody is following by heart.
We felt in love with Castellare di Tonda...

Tuscan paradise

Sono stato di recente con amici di lunga data al Castellare di Tonda per un addio al nubilato.
Che dire, tutto é andato perfettamente. La location immersa nel verde toscano é paradisiaca, avevamo praticamente una piscina tutta per noi con vista sulle colline del Chianti.
L'accoglienza di Donatella alla reception é stata fenomenale, come i cocktail di Raffaele, il servizio di Jewel al ristorante, le lezioni di equitazione di Elsa e Marco e la spa.
Le colazioni offerte sono gustosissime, ve le consiglio.
Vorrei anche ringraziare sentitamente la struttura per la flessibilitá, ci hanno concesso il check-out tardi il pomeriggio e ci hanno lasciato la giornata in piscina. Siete fantastici!!

Cudowne miejsce aby się wyciszyć spędzić miło czas z rodziną oraz odpocząć. Doskonale miejsce jako baza wypadowa do głównych atrakcji Toscanii.
Mieliśmy przyjemność być obsługiwani przez Polkę która tam pracuje. Same mile wspomnienia.

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Urlaub in der Anlage. Jedes Haus direkt einen Pool, das Essen und der Service war hervorragend. Die Wohnungen sind rustikal eingerichtet - aber zweckmäßig. Sehr feine Angebote wie Reiten, Kinderbetreuung, Weintasting sowie Wellnessbereich mit top Massagen.
Kinder sind sehr willkommen, unsere beiden kleinen waren glücklich.

Selbst die Traktorfahrt war einmalig, nur zu empfehlen, das war eher ein Offroad-Erlebnis.

Man kommt von Tonda aus innerhalb von 30 km nach San Gimignano, Vollterra, Certaldo und und und.

Posto incantato, sulle colline di Montaione. La spa è bella e pulita, con idromassaggio all'aperto con vista panoramica. Davvero suggestivo. Pranzo light lunch ricercato e servizio veloce e cortese. Vino della casa fruttato e piacevole. Consigliato.

Siamo stati per una comunione nel ristorante, siamo stati benissimo abbiamo mangiato bene , non molto ed era tutto buono . La location molto bella specialmente se azzeccate la giornata di sole come abbiamo trovato noi . Sicuramente ci ritroveremo molto volentieri. 👍🏻
