The food was delicious, with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. It was also great that we could get late lunch there! At 3pm when most other places are closed. The owner, his wife, and the staff are super nice. It feels homely and probably the most welcoming service we’ve gotten anywhere in Italy! They even gave us biscuits for our dog 😀 Grazie mille for the wonderful meal and experience!

A small, family run restaurant. The atmosphere was amazing and the dishes, traditional Matera cuisine, were delicious. We loved them and my 1 and 3 loved them even more (extra portion of meatballs!!!).

Highly recommend when in Matera! So much better than all tourist - oriented restaurants around. Very friendly owners , tiny and cozy place, delicious food for a reasonable prices. You can also have a cake and a coffee here.

This place is a gem. Unique decor and the friendliest staff ever. Food tasted fresh, well seasoned and heart warming. Cost is so low for the amount of food you get. We left happy a with our tummies full ❤

My friends and I decided to go to Matera and wow were in for a surprise.. as we became hungry from walking all over we ended up here a small cozy place that Google recommended. As we walked in we were greeted by Carlo, Giovanna and their daughter who’s name I do not recall. The food was amazing and more than that the attention that they gave us made us feel like we were home with a family member. Wow are they amazing putting a lot of love and attention to us.. the meatballs were my favorite part of what they were serving that day. I would recommend this place a million times. Thanks to them it made our experience more than words can explain..

What a wonderful experience! If you want an authentic place where you eat the way the people of Matera really ate, go to this osteria that is partly carved into the rock. The cuisine is all baked: first courses, main courses, desserts all according to season with fresh vegetables from their own fields. Mrs. Giovanna and her husband are very nice, explaining the dishes one by one opening the steaming and fragrant pots before your eyes. Red local wine 14°

Our favourite experience in Matera, every single thing we tasted from the mains, desert, house wine and their own amaro was absolutely delicious! It felt like the type of food my mom would make if she was Italian 😄 The owners are incredibly nice people as well and they make you feel most welcome. We loved it so much we went twice in a day! I recommend to anyone who wants an authentic experience and a delicious homey meal. * to note, if you are a foreigner, I haven’t seen them speaking English, but please don’t let that discourage you - you’ll be missing out so much!!

Home cooked dinner that was delicious! The meatballs, stuffed eggplant and stuffed mushrooms were so good. I was tired, hungry and this place was perfect. Great location, customer service and price. I wanted to go back again but ran out of time. Definitely worth checking out.

Perfect meal to end our time in Matera. If you're after good home cooking, this is the place. Regional food, very well executed. Friends service and a great atmosphere. You order from what has been prepared for the day. A variety of antipasto, vegetarian and meat dishes. I recommend the dessert tutti- try everything!

If you're hesitant to go inside, do yourself a favour and go in. You'll be welcomed by sweet hosts and real home cooked Italian food. We paid 18€ for a plate with three choices from their selection of about 10 different dishes. Vegetarians are well catered for, as well. Sweets looked tempting but we couldn't fit them in anymore 😉

We had an amazing experience here. The hosts are very very friendly and treated us so good. And the food was amazing. Real traditional italian food. If you want to feel and eat like home, well this is the place. Thank you for making us feel so good! Kisses to Pilo!

I came here because of the reviews and hopefully I’ll get someone to go because of my experience.
The place is cozy, lots of personality, the food is buffet type and it taste like HOME. We got the pasta mortadella (looks like lasagna) and the meatballs. SO not pretentious, as if you went to your grandmas to eat on a sunday.
Then we wanted dessert, didnt know which one to pick so they gave us a mini slice of each and not gonna lie all of them were good, specially the chocolate one.
Both were super welcoming, and very kind.

I dined here with two close friends and it soon felt like I was at a family reunion with the extraordinary hospitality Carlo, Giovana and their daughter provided. The food was delicious and it is an experience I speak about to this day when I think about great service. Giovana invited us to try a wine she personally makes which made the experience even more personal and exclusive. If you can, dine here, I cannot recommend this restaurant and the company of this family enough.

We wanted to try something local with friendly price, we found Brunch Bar with very good reviews. We were not disappointed!

A must visit for every lunch in Matera. It is located in the quiet part of the lower town. Best homemade food!

This place is simply amazing. Giovanna and Carlo are a power couple. The place is homely and menu free. Giovanna will show you all the options they have prepared for the meal and you can make your own plate of mix and match. They are very vegetarian friendly. They don't take reservations and get full fast, especially by locals. So go early! This place has my heart.

Wonderful home-style food and lovely owners. While the owners don't speak English, I had no issues communicating to them through my broken Italian and using Google Translate. One of the best meals I have had so far in my trip through southern Italy!

The best dining experience I've had in Italy. The hosts are absolutely wonderful, and the food was authentic, hearty, and very varied.

Our AirBnB owner Tudor recommended dinner here. We just had driven 4 hours and were a bit tired so we went for an early dinner around 7.
At entering the cozy place, Gio(vanna) immediately welcomed us warmly and explained us how to order. There’s no menu. You just choose from the dishes Gio has displayed in the vitrine.
The food is all home made by her and absolutely to die for. It’s mouthwatering, really.
The place makes you feel like you’re having dinner with good friends at their home. I can’t think of a better compliment.
