I note the negative reviews here but thankfully our experience couldn’t have been better. While the location of the rental centre is poorly signposted, I had my keys within less than 5 minutes of walking in. Gave us an almost new Puegot 308 wagon. For some reason we were having major issues with the child lock on the back door, so I drove back and they upgraded me without question to a Puegot 508 GT with only 20km on it. Appreciated their help and overall a very seamless experience.

We took opel corsa for 3 days. Car was perfect. Online we booked for 91€, then at the desk we add insurance for no excess for everything. It costs as total 230€. No km limit. And we pick it up in Catania and return in Palermo. So I think this was correct price. No problem at all.

This location seemed to have many mixed reviews and almost deterred me from renting here. I am so glad I did. They were helpful and considerate. I even had to change the vehicle out since the first vehicle would have been too big for the narrow roads of Sicily. But they graciously accommodated the change and it was a very pleasant and smooth experience from pick up to drop off. I would recommend this Avis rental location.

It is well worth using the Avis/Budget 'QuickPass' as your keys and paperwork will be given to you straightaway. However... there is no obvious signage at the Catania airport Budget counter and I had to butt-in to the chaotic melee and say that I had a QuickPass; at which point I was served straightaway and so avoided the long queue. The car when we got it was virtually new.

I used a hybrid Jeep Renegade for 6 days, a very suitable car for any road in Sicily.
The price was convenient, and the procedures for picking up and returning the car were extremely simple and fast.
The staff was incredibly friendly, agreeing to advance the rental period by 24 hours at no additional cost.

The workers were very attentive. The check out was very fast, so we could catch the flight without delay.

Rented from this location in 9/2023. I was wary after reading all of the negative reviews, but the rental process was extremely smooth. I received a phone call about a week before my rental to request some additional information to expedite the pickup. There was no line when I arrived on a Sunday night, and the keys were already prepared. I did not pay for additional insurance (zero excess) nor was I pushed to buy additional coverage by the staff (I relied on credit card coverage). The car was a Peugeot in excellent condition, and I had no issues with it during the week. When I returned the car, the staff looked over the vehicle quickly and checked me out. I did not receive any additional bills for minor damage, as noted by other reviewers. All in all, it was a very smooth rental.

I think they are doing their best to correct the mediocre score they have on google due to the negative reviews we have all read here. My experience so far has been positive with them. I rented a 5-door car "Lancia Ypsilon or similar" and got a DR, an unpretentious Chinese car rebranded in Italy, but new and bigger than a Ypsilon and which to my amazement worked very well. I opted for Avis for their zero excess full insurance policy, something to be appreciated in the south of Italy, known both for imprudent driving and for pandemic thefts which makes their business very challenging. Sure, some reviews are absolutely disastrous for the company's reputation, but compared to those of the competition, I think it's still a better choice. I recommend everyone to document the car very well when picking it up from the airport to ensure that there will be no problems and unnecessary discussions upon return and after. I also recommend buying full insurance from them and not through various brokers to avoid unpleasant surprises, which are most often financially disastrous. In conclusion, I recommend Avis for their car rental services in Catania, bearing in mind that despite some small issues, they have demonstrated a proactive attitude and a desire to ensure customer satisfaction.

An early review as I've only just returned the car - but without doubt one of the best car hire experienced yet. Staff were friendly and took time to explain everything, check out was fast, check in fast. Bit of a tough time to find the check in entrance (look for the sign in the photos, and follow the arrow).
Two comments
1. A bit if a wait to do the initial paperwork - it was 22:30
2. Avis don't note they don't have in-terminal desk - it's outside (turn right, walk 150 meters to the roundabout)

Rented a car with full insurance as Avis Preferred. 10-min waiting for paper work and immediate pick-up. Nice, friendly staff both at the counter and pick-up zone. The car was what we reserved, brand new and clean. The return process was also quick and the deposit was returned on the same day. No problem at all.

Seamless return and service. Within minute everything was checked without any prejudice or magnifier glass

Hired a car for a week and used the Avis App to avoid queuing on collection. You need to go directly to an automated collect point, in the Avis car park (same place you drop the car off at) where you scan your QR code.

The damage report for the car appears on your app and if there are any noticeable differences take photographs. In our case the Avis rep acknowledged these on return and accepted this as proof.

The Seat SUV we rented only had a couple of thousand miles on the clock, was in great condition and ideal for our holiday.

Francesco in Catania Airport gave us excellent service. Very helpful when we needed to change a car which wasn’t suitable for us. If everyone at Avis was like Francesco I would never choose another company. Thank you!

I have been renting with AVIS and BUDGET for years and years, always with satisfaction. Staff are very kind, competent and helpful, often the first friendly faces when I arrive in Italy. Their cars are fresh, tidy and well maintained.
At my last rental, I was particularly pleased with the assistance by Luciano and Monica at Catania Fontanarossa Airport. Well done and thank you very much for making my rental so easy and my holiday so pleasant!

Very easy rental experience at CTA. I received a free upgrade to a new larger vehicle. Personnel at both rental and return were helpful. Could use a sign inside the terminal upon arriving. Used GPS to find the return directions.
Driving in Sicily wasn’t as difficult as I expected. Watch out for cars and motorcycles darting out at every intersection, especially in Catania.

Excellent service. Very surprised. Expected them (car rental companies in general) to try to sell me insurance or rip me off in some way, but there was genuinely none of that. They were lovely!
