First I want to talk about the service:

The restaurant will welcome you with drinks, will serve you different items on the house.

The owner will come and talk with you, he makes sure everything is good and you are taken care of.

When you are done eating, they will provide some desserts on the house as well. I have never seen anything like this.

They have taken the service in the next level.

Now talking about food:

We ordered Baked fish; it was sea bass. Please see the picture; it’s actually good for even four people. It was so delicious. I finished even the head and bones of the fish.

And we also ordered lobster pasta; it was simply delicious. I like spicy food, so the owner opened a new bottle of chills in oil and served it.

This is the best restaurant experience in Italy for me.

We had a fantastic dinner, overall everything was great. We were served a glass of wine while we waited for our table. The servers were helpful and welcoming. Our dinner (mushroom tortellini & scampi asparagus spaghetti) was delicious, great amount of options on the menu. At the end, we were given complimentary digestives & biscuits/slice as a dessert. Overall amazing dinner and would return.

The restaurant was really nice. The atmosphere was great. We didn't have a reservation, but they accommodated us very fast (2 people). The waiter was great from the beginning until the end of our dinner. The food was amazing. I can't think of anything that we didn't like. For sure, if we come back to Venice, we will visit this restaurant again.

Trattoria Al Gazzettino in Venice exceeded all expectations and solidified its reputation as one of the most iconic trattorias in the city. From the moment we arrived, we knew it was worth the wait. First night in Venice Googled a restaurant to eat and we were splendidly delighted with Trattoria Al Gazzettino. My review will be based on two times we ate back to back evening around 6:00, both times food and service was outstanding. Our wonderful server was Manal both evenings and her great suggestions on the menu were right on target. She had a delightful personality and very confident in her food recommendation’s. If you read the front page of menu the restaurant thrives on patrons satisfaction thus mentioning if you don’t like it please tell your server. The menu is set up with pictures and translations and the entrees presentation on the plates were very enticing. We enjoyed the house Cabernet and dinner was followed by a complimentary dessert. Although we were both full we did manage to gobble it up. Thanks for a wonderful dining experience and we highly recommend. I believe they do take reservations and if you don’t eat early highly suggest you book. We were only a party of two.

Loved the atmosphere of this restaurant compared to others around. Felt authentic and welcoming from the owner. The pasta was for sure the best I had in Venice. The Tiramisu was great as well and the prices were fair for a true proper meal. They also have a pictures menu which is helpful. Make sure to go early as the hours on google seemed to be different. I also appreciated the owner introducing us to Cantucci on the house. ❤

We ordered the spider crab spaghetti, a raw fish appetizer, and the grilled fish. The seafood was fresh and tasted delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

This was one of our favorite restaurants from the whole 2-week trip we took to Italy, but still some pros and cons to share.

Pros: the wait staff is very friendly and the food is superb. We got the seafood risotto for two (it comes in a wooden gondola, see the pics below!) which was to die for even for people who don't like seafood. We also got lasagna, a crab linguine, a tiramisu and then the restaurant gave us free cookies and pastries which were also fantastic. The desserts really knocked this experience out of the park for us.

Cons: We had to wait more than 30 minutes outside and it was confusing how to sign up for a table and how long the wait would be. When we finally got to the front of the line expecting to be seated next, two families walked up (without reservations) and were seated first only because they had small children. I understand the logic from the wait staff, but something to keep in mind if you plan on showing up without a reservation.

The reception was excellent. The good was delicious and well cocked and presented !
We like the way they took care of each customer. While waiting, the served us appetizers while waiting the food which was very quickly to serve.
The proposed us risotto which it was above tasty and yummy.
Then, the served us free desserts ! So satisfying and I highly recommend it

We were in Venice for 2 days and this was the best restaurant we tried! Everything we had was soooo good! The calamari was tender, not heavily battered and seasoned. The squid ink pasta had fresh pasta, tender squid pieces and was just flavorful! The only regret we had was not having time to go back to this restaurant. Service was on point! Grazie!

You will not find another restaurant in Venice with better service than here. We had made a wrong turn in one of the many alleys & found the back of the restaurant instead of the front. The staff were so helpful in directing us to the front & then we were welcomed in like we were family. We were seated next to windows directly on a canal & our server, Fabio, was funny & engaging. He told us about specials not on the menu & seemed to know exactly what we wanted before we asked. The caprese salad is more than just tomatoes, basil & mozzarella. There were pickles, olives & cauliflower. Delicious! If you like prosciutto & melon, you will NOT be disappointed. It was the best melon I've ever had! They brought out another appetizer "on the house" as well as dessert! My grandson devoured his linguine with mussels & then finished his Dad's crab risotto. You will love this place. The food is homemade & the service is over the top.

If you are new to Venice beware of tourist restaurants. This is NOT a tourist trap. This place has a beautiful ambiance, excellent customer service and the best spaghetti I’ve ever had and that was my little girls order! Adult food was excellent and the wine recommendation was on par. We did t have a reservation. We were welcomed without one and treated so great. I definitely recommend this place for good food, service and ambience close to St. Mark’s square. Food out there is horrible.

Absolutely incredible!!! You must eat here while in Venice. The food, hospitality, and atmosphere were all beyond amazing. Definitely the best meal we had in Venice. The owners made us feel like family. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. There are several delicious vegetarian choices along with seafood and meat options. A great wine selection as well. You will not be disappointed in stopping here!

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local and thus far it has been the best meal we have had in our 13 days of touring Italy. Everything on the menu looked/sounded delicious, so it was hard to choose, but everything we had from start to finish was amazing, as was our service. Our server, Manel, was the best! Do not miss this place while in Venice--it's just around the corner from the Rialto Post Office.

Food was good. Quick and gastronomic service, would recommend! The waiters and owners are busy, but didn’t bother us.

Great Italian place in Venice that offers many gluten free options like pasta, bread, cookies, and desserts. We have come here many times and the gluten free cookie 🍪 you get at the end is the best gluten free cookie I've ever had 5 stars ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

My visit to Trattoria Al Gazzettino turned out to be a delightful experience. Despite not having a reservation, they quickly seated us and even offered us drinks while we waited. The food was outstanding, highlighting the best of Italian cuisine. A great choice for anyone craving delicious food and exceptional hospitality in Venice.

Best local Italian restaurant in Venice. Good price and delicious food. We are very happy we found this place in Venice, it made our stay really memorable. I recommend it!

10/5 service. Even met the owner when they opened. Staff were very friendly and accommodated us eventhough we didn’t have a reservation. Food was excellent and they even gave us complimentary desserts.

Their specialty that came with a spider crab along with their squid ink pasta tasted really good. Would come back here again next time we’re in Venice!

It was a lot of fun. Our server was really nice and made sure everyone and everything was going well. Some of the best lobster I’ve ever had and same with the tiramisu.
