Ristorante La Gattabuia - Matera

Some of the best food we've had in Italy on this week long trip. I particularly enjoyed the lamb pasta dish and the take on tiramisu was innovative and excellent. The service was a bit gruff, but attentive and helpful

This is fine dining at its best. The Chef is obviously very passionate with combining food. It was a taste explosion, all of it including the house Chardonnay. We had the beetroot baked to share and out came a chef taste of amazing red cabbage with fruit but I’m not doing it justice explaining. We then shared the amazing pea / oyster/ zucchini risotto and finished with a beautiful desert. The waiting staff were just amazing and so accomodating. What a wonderful experience and great finish to this beautiful town, Matera 😍 We can hand on heart truly recommend this restaurant as a top destination

Well executed plates on a beautiful and simple setting. Great atmosphere and beautiful wine list. But the thing that made it memorable was the professional and welcoming staff. So passionate and generous. Grazie for such warm hospitality.

Fantastic tasting menu. The seafood take on the carbonara was fun (seafood bisque base) and the scallops were perfect. There is also something about the pistachios in Italy...they are just so flavorful. A pleasant surprise!

We were advised by our LA Suites Hotel to try this restaurant doing classic Italian cuisine with a modern twist. And it ticked the boxes for us. Except for the fact that we were seated in a separate room, maybe because non-italian?

But food, wine, portions, timing and service were impeccable. Enjoy!
Not the cheap italian pizza or pasta place, but not at all a tourist trap despite its location in the hart of the historic center. We got in last minute, but I assume in non-covid times reservations are advisable.

Lovely spot, perfect service and remarcable cuisine. Refined and very well executed. Very delicate flavors, delicious local products.

We came because of a Lonely planet recommendation and we are ecstatic we did! Such a wonderful dinner with amazing food and lovely staff. The absolute queen of the night was the cannoli… omfg, best thing in the world. Id come back just for that! Definitely worth a visit (and the €€€).

I came here looking for an authentic Italian dish and that's exactly what I found and more! The staff were attentive, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was 10 out of 10, I would recommend a thousand times, especially the lamb dish they definitely put a smile on my face 😊 great portion sizes and I left feeling well fed!!

My sister and I had an incredible experience here during our wine and olive oil tasting. One of the owners, Giuseppe shared his extensive and impressive knowledge of all the wines we drank and oils we tried. Our meal following this tasting was also distinctive. We were able to taste every detail Davide, the other owner used to describe the dishes we ordered. We recommend the fried zucchini flowers, the burnt grain focaccia, the red pepper chips, among some of their offerings. Both the pastas we ordered were out of this world so I think you can’t go wrong with any of the pastas you order. We ordered 3 of the desserts, which is more than half of their dessert menu and we were pleased with all of them. Their cannoli is not the typical over sweetened cannoli but rather a thoughtful expression of it. This restaurant is a must try if you’re eating your way through Italy, stopping in Matera, and want to meet local restaurant owners who are passionate about the food they are serving.

Loved this restaurant! We are definitely happy we followed the guide's advice and stepped by, it was a wonderful culinary experience. Special mention for the antipasti: we had the octopus and the lamb and they we both delicious. Try the bread cannolo as well!
