Federico II - Italian Language School Sicily

We cannot express enough how thrilled we were with the learning experience our 15 year old daughter had at Federico II in Catania. We are an American and European family and our daughter studied at this language school for a few weeks.

From day one, Federica and the staff and instructors were warm and welcoming. The instructors are not only highly skilled but also incredibly patient and understanding. They tailor their teaching methods to each student's level and pace, ensuring that no one gets left behind. I was impressed by their dedication to helping us grasp the intricacies of the Italian language.

They also put a lot of thought into creating a program that not only teaches the language but also immerses students in Italian culture, with visits to cultural landmarks. The cultural events and outings organized by the school added a delightful dimension to my learning experience, especially the excursion with Roberto to Mount Etna.

We recommend this school to anyone interested in learning Italian, whether you're a beginner or looking to improve your skills. It's an exceptional place with exceptional people, and our daughter made several friends from her course.

I went to this school this Summer for 2 months and I liked it a Lot! It is really good, because the teachers only speak in italian to you (of course If you have a question they help in english) but for learning and especially practicing speaking it is a good practice. The school is quiet Central, and the teachers are super sweet, all on a very friendly and fun Level. You do a weekly cultural Activity to get to know the City better and hang Out with your class mates. We also did Out of school Dinners or little get togethers with the teachers and students which was soo cool! I definitely recommend this school to anyone, looking for a new experience, meet new people and of course learn the language! I Had a great time, Special thanks to Federica and Giulia <3

The school is incredible, I learned a lot in these last 7 months in which I learned Italian and not only grammar, I learned how to communicate with people. At school the teachers share part of their culture but not only do you learn Italian culture by being surrounded by classmates who come from many parts of the world, you learn a little about their culture in addition to spending beautiful moments with everyone both in classes and in the meetings that take place. organize the beautiful teachers. I had the opportunity to be in class with the three teachers that the school has and I can honestly say that each one has a very beautiful way of teaching in addition to showing a great passion for teaching their mother language.

Here you'll find dedicated professional teachers who have a passion and a heart for the Italian language and culture. Our class (beginners level) was composed of max. 4 students and we got a lot of attention from our teacher. The cultural activity is a great way to get to know other participants from all over the world. I truly enjoyed my time here! A big shout-out to my teacher Marion and thank you to all the lovely people I met in Catania!

It was very good one week experience and I regret that didn't plan longer trip. The teachers are professionals and very helpful.
You will also get a lot of speaking experience during lessons, that was the most important part for me and the most difficult. Even with a lack of knowledge compare to my classmates I felt comfortable and not frustrated with everybody's support.
There was additional activities organized by school like museums, they give you opportunity to get into Italian atmosphere smoothly and without stress.
I also took an opportunity to have private one-to-one classes to work on my weak language sides.
As a benefit, you get to know nice people from different countries with whom you keep practicing during lunch breaks.
Highly recommended also because of very competitive cost.

Federico II Italian Language Schol in Catania is a great place to start or improve the Italian language. The classes take place in a friendly atmosphere with the teachers, who are professionals and join you and help step by step. The learning process is fitted with a particular level of your comprehension and the groups are small for the benefit of the participants. At school, you meet people from around the whole world and make new friends. The teachers organize a lot of advantages in the afternoon so you have the chance to visit interesting places in the very heart of the baroque of Catania. Over there often the students and teachers spent time together having local food dinner and tasty wine at places known only by the locals.
I highly recommend it.

I attended three weeks of school here in March in an intermediate course. I had studied in Torino for a week last summer so have some basis of comparison for my comments. I appreciated the small class size as it provided us lots of opportunities to practice speaking Italian. Our teacher Federica was great. I went from understanding about 70% of what was happening in class to almost complete comprehension by the third week. Unlike my course in Torino there were less levels so there was a greater range of linguistic abilities in one class. I found this a benefit though as I could try and emulate the rhythm of my more accomplished classmates. I also appreciated that Federica didn’t allow the more advanced students to dominate the class time. Catania is a great place to live. Mt Etna is smoking away above town. Super scenic and a great weekend trip to take to the mountains. Taormina and Siracusa are both easy train rides away. The group dinners were super enjoyable.

I spent a month at this language school and it was amazing. The school is easy to walk to from the city center, the classrooms are well equipped, and the staff are wonderful. I improved my Italian immensely through this language school and their style of teaching Italian. The school would organize weekly cultural events to museums and sites in Catania that were full of content and well worth it. We would also organize events to meet up after class to enjoy the city, go for dinner, or simply have an aperitivo. All of the students and the staff worked and interacted together like family which further enriched my stay. The staff would also help organize my own excursions with suggestions on transport, acomodaciones, and activities when I would choose to venture outside of Catania. Staying in Catania and going to this school is ideal for solo travelers and people who simply want to explore a different side of Italy. Highly recommend this school for all!

I did an intensive 2-week course (level B1) at Federico II Italian Language School in Catania in September 2020. I was very happy with my experience there, whether in organizational matters, teaching, or in extra-curricular activities. The quality of teaching was excellent, and my teacher Federica did her best to accommodate the different needs of the students. Some students, like me, come to the course with good knowledge of grammar but with poor conversation skills, other students have it the other way around, yet she made sure to include in her classes materials that are suitable for both sides.

Another aspect that I really liked about the school is that teachers and staff care about their students even outside the course. Every week we had an extra-curricular activity (a visit to a museum for example). My teacher even organized a gathering for some current and ex-students at her flat with delicious home-made Italian food!

A really good school that I can absolutely reccomend. Small classes. Competent and passionate teachers. In our class of only 2 students we had the opportunity to practice a lot of speaking. Location is centrally in Catania close to a metro station.

I came here for 3 weeks and in that time I was taught so much that I went from faltering Italian to some basic fluency. The location is amazing as are the teachers. I had Federica who made the entire experience unforgettable. Highly recommend this school for all Italian didactic needs!

I needed to learn Italian in a fast pace and a friend recommended me the course. I couldn't be happier! In only two months they managed to take me from absolute zero Italian knowledge to B1+. Not only that, but they also encouraged me during classes to speak more and now I feel comfortable to speak Italian in real life situations. The place is easy to find, the professors are friendly and the institution also provides trips to touristic places around the city. Totally recommended!

Federico II is one of the best italian language schools in all of Sicily. I would definitely recommend their programs to everyone. I attended the italian courses with Federica. We started private lessons and then continued with online lessons. I had the chance to join one of the group classes at Monstero dei Benedettini. It was really fun and a great experience for me. I must say Federica is good at online and one-on-one classes. I highly appreciate her teaching skills for group lessons. She has the ability to manage the lessons well by giving a balanced and equal attention to her students.

This school is fantastic. It's a great combination of very good teaching methodology, motivation, flexibility, fun and good relationship with the teacher. The teachers are very professional and just super nice and positive people. Apart the language you also learn here very interesting cultural facts, make sightseeing and meet new people. During my two-week stay, I have learned so much in Federico II Italian Language School and I've also met some incredible people from all over the world.
The cultural activities that were organized by the school helped me learn a lot about the city and the Sicilian culture.
The staff is friendly and kind and the lessons were organized in a way that we talk a lot in Italian but also cover a lot of grammatical stuff as well.

In the heart of Catania, Federico II Language School, is the perfect place to immerse yourself in Sicilian culture. Good teachers and personal treatment. Also great activities are organized outside school hours (visits to museums, theatre, beach, sharing a meal with other students...).
We had the chance to improve our italian and meet incredible people, so we'd recommend it for sure!

Very good teachers, who also really make an effort to make you feel at home. I made a lot of progress in just three weeks. The school is not far from the city center; easy to reach on foot (or by metro) in about 20 minutes. Great atmosphere with cultural activities in the afternoon (1x per week, paid by the school), and occasional diners/aperitivo with other students. Highly recommended :)

I had a wonderful time at the language school. I didn’t know anything about Catania so I asked the school, if they could organise a room for me. They knew a family who would take me in, what gave me the opportunity to also speak Italian in my spare time and meet some wonderful people.
The lectures with Giuliana at school were great. I started as an ultimate beginner and learned a lot in two weeks. I really like the teaching style and the setting of the school.
The price-performance ratio of the school is very good, far better than you could get it, if you would book at an Austrian agency.
I will come again and can wholeheartedly recommend the school.
