University of Padua Botanical Garden

It was a lovely day in April so perfect weather for going to this park. Seniors like me pay 8 euros to enter, rather than the usual 10 for younger adults. A number of plants and trees were blooming. The walks are well-maintained.

An excellent location for all nature and botany enthusiasts. Unfortunately, the greenhouse was under renovation, so it was not possible to visit that part, but the entrance fee is still charged at full price. It was fair of the staff at the entrance to mention this upfront, allowing us to decide whether to enter or not. In any case, it’s a pleasant place for a walk and exploration, especially during the summer months when there is a heatwave, providing a nice retreat into the shade of the trees. Be sure to also visit the interactive museum on site; it's highly recommended.

What a wonderful place. This is my favourite botanical garden. We spent the whole morning here but it was still not enough to explore this place. Thumbs up for those who designed the museum. Many interactive multimedia for visitors to learn about the amazing and interesting world of plants. The modern green house is great too. 10€ for the entry fee is definitely worth it.

This place is a must if you are in Padova.

You can really enjoy the serenity of diverse plants from all over the world.

Just sitting on a bench brings so much peace.

There is also a small interractive museum inside.

And of course don't miss "La palma di Goethe" and the story behind it.

I enjoyed my weekend there, very calming place, natural beauty 🫶🏻 At 18.00pm we had to leave , there was also kinda museum inside you can explore. It took about 3 hours for us to explore this beautiful place.

A very pleasant place during the boiling summer weather with refreshing tiny fountains where you can sit down and relax while contemplating the marvellous surroungings. The interactive exhibition is a great fun for children and adults as well.

Very cool, historical botanical gardens. I was sad that the main greenhouses were closed for maintenance while we were there. Perhaps a discounted ticket during those times would be nice. Otherwise, beautiful museum and very cool history.

There was a wonderful variety of plants on display, and it wasn't too crowded on a Saturday morning. I was glad of the many benches as it was quite hot and humid. The gate opened promptly at 10 and I was able to use my ticket on my phone to get in.

Really very very nice. If you are in Padua, it is absolutely worth a visit, also because it doesn't cost much at all (5€ under 25). It is quite large, in fact it takes at least two hours to visit it all. There are so many plants and flowers! Inside the glasshouse there are also some interactive displays with videos and small games for children.

Wonderful botanical garden, one of the oldest in the world. Great curation and arrangement.

-The tropical section of the greenhouses has a well designed two tier system where you can really appreciate the size of the trees.
- look out for their understated cactus collection! You can find some in the “maze” garden section near the center.
- lots of discounts available for students, seniors etc so check when you’re buying tickets.

Well worth checking out if you want to spend a quieter day in Padua.

Peculiar in its own history, this university botanic garden is a unique pearl.
Plants are divided into groups in different sectors, e.g. poisonous ones are on the bottom west side of the inner court.
Free map available after paying the entrance ticket at a convenient price of 10 euros.
Goethe palm is the most curious heritage bit.
The internal museum guides to the main scholars that helped this institution grow and blossom.
Closed on Mondays.

We took a side trip to Padua and ran into the botanical garden by accident. It was an absolutely delightful surprise. It has the best green house I have ever visited. The garden houses so many specie of plants with many that I saw for the very first time and may not see them again. Well worth the 10 euro admission.

Very peaceful. A lovely quiet space with a cool museum to visit inside. A great place to appreciate natural beauty.

The Unesco botanical garden has a beautiful outlay, main area being round with several labyrinth like parts. It was October and some of the plants were tired, but in the greenhouses most were green. The new greenhouses bring the modern touch and they are fantastic. Good experience, 10 euros per ticket.

Historical Botanical Garden featuring the Goethe palm tree, a 500 years old specimen, which is really impressive. Medicinal plants, fountains, flesh-eating plants, giant nenuphars, towering magnolias… it is totally worth it and a very relaxing experience.

Lovely botanical garden in the heart of Padua. Given its historical importance providing research for medicine and showcasing a wide range of plant life, this is a worthwhile stop if you’re in the city.

Some comments mention that it’s rather poorly maintained and doesn’t have a wide depth of offerings, but I would disagree. This is one of the oldest botanical gardens and the current footprint was probably limited and was probably considered quite large for its time. In that sense, it does feel like a throwback. Yes, it’s not super polished but the specimens we saw were all really beautiful and included cacti, mosses, aquatic plants, carnivorous plants. During the visit, we saw staff maintaining the grounds and taking care of the debris from the larger trees.

Garden is very walkable and is connected though a few walkways to another building which was holding some conventions when I visited. Looked educational and was attended by university students.

It’s also fun to be able to get up close to a cluster of pitcher plants and see them digesting insects is not something you get to do everyday.

After all this time, still a great place for observing, learning and inspiration.

There are tons os different species, including a section of those which were brought to Europe by the University itself (such as potatoes, sunflower and agave).

One of the nicest things for me is that life is thriving in this place. You can see lizards and other small animals enjoying the diversity of plants.

There's also some interactive spots where you can learn more about the origins of each species and the spread of plants around the globe.

Beautiful worth the entry price

The older part of the garden is pretty but would be greatly improved by explanations of the different sections and perhaps some of the uses for the different plants.
The modern greenhouse, powered by sun and water, is very impressive, as is the size of some of the plants inside! Explanations here are clear and bilingual, making it a much more enjoyable visit.
