Hotel Candiani

1913: more than 100 years ago, a slaughterhouse was built in Casale Monferrato, it was the the biggest one in the Province of Alessandria. It consisted of several buildings: one for administrative purposes, one was used as a stall for animals and another one was the real slaughter area.

Fortunately, in year 2000, the activity was definetively converted from the orginal place of "pain" to one of "care", and since then, it become Hotel Candiani****, leading hospitality mansion both for numbers and quality of the rooms and for its facilities.

Giovanna Ceccherini, the Hotel Manager, welcomes us. The first impression we get is exactly this: in this place guests become special. Then, by talking with her, she confirm our feeling. At present, the hospitality industry is striving to attract leisure tourist by marketing special offers in Monferrato. She says "we must think of tourism as a professional matter, not as just an easy way of making money: and this is not a cold business, it is not just giving a place to sleep, on the contrary, it must be a better place than the guest's house".

"Moreover, now we are proud of having been recognized as a Unesco World Heritage" she continues, "so it should be our commitment to make people fall in love with Monferrato, the wines, the food, the hills, the nature and the villages."

We check-in and Angelica, the receptionist, kindly shows us our room. A nice smell of freshness enfold us and we leave our baggage. The room is elegant and simple at the same time, very clean and tidy, as everything that is in the Hotel. In the bathroom, a large set of of complimentary toiletries is avalaible.

Some of the room furniture, the hall and the bar reflect the Art Nouveau style, as well the premises themselves: this makes us feel like being characters withing history. Later on, we meet Giovanna again. She explains that the furniture had been bought at the famous Grand Hotel of San Pellegrino Terme. We visit one of the three suites, elegant and cozy, at the third floor. The hotel consists of 49 rooms. Along the corridors, some pictures recall Casale and Monferrato, as well a showcase with local products, in which the famous "Krumiri Rossi" stand out.

Outside a huge courtyard is surrounded by several buildings: two meeting rooms, one with 20 seats, the other one with 80 and decorated with Mark Cooper photo exhibition about Monferrato landscapes. At the end a congress hall of 700 square meters. Every room has a name of a remarkable person or a family that made the history of Monferrato: Aleramo, Alençon, and Gonzaga.

Then Restaurant La Torre, stands in the courtyard. Here the atmosphere there is amazing: this makes us go back in time, to the early XXth century.

Our conversation with Giovanna carries on: she wish that Monferrato will be able to take advantage from the benefits coming from the Expo 2015 in Milan, and for this purpose she is giving her contribution to the town to plan this opportunity. "Tour Guides," she asserts, "has to be always available and museums must kept be open every day. But all our efforts", she continues, "may be useless, if we first don't solve the problem of transports".

Actually, Casale Monferrato is not connected to Milan anylonger: travellong to the Monferrato is more and more complicate and furthermore the train station is closed on Sunday.

Another keyword she uses a lot and she wish that everyone will make theirs own is: "Loyalty". "Sometimes in Italy this attitude is missing, an important step should be to start with that, towards our guests".

After this engaging conversation with Giovanna we go back to our room and we deeply fall asleep, thanks to the silence that surrounds the place. The next morning we are surprised by a continental buffet breakfast in the bar area, which is also very beautiful. Bread, hams, cheese, eggs, yogurt, milk, soya milk, butter, many cereals, and many other products. But not only, some local jam, as mulberry and grape must, cereal croissant with honey and special cakes that are fresh and hand-made, sweetens our wake up.

I had a very pleasant stay! Very friendly and helpful staff, nice, clean and well equipped rooms.

Ottima base per casale Monferrato,pulizia ,gentilezza, cordialità, peccato che ultimamente credo abbia chiuso.

La struttura ha superato il secolo di vita e l'attuale gestione tiene l'Hotel sempre in perfetto ordine. Gli ambienti sono in stile liberty, la pulizia e l'ordine sono a ottimi livelli, il personale è cortese. Camere e bagni ampi, comodi. Si dorme bene. La scelta per la colazione è buona, con prodotti specifici per chi ha intolleranze o desideri personali. Per le bevande calde c'è la macchina automatica ma basta chiedere per avere un buon caffè espresso dal bar.
I prezzi sono adeguati.

Ma quanto mi è piaciuto questo hotel che ha applicato il "riuso" quando ancora non ne esisteva il concetto di adesso. Mobili dei primi del 900 recuperati da un hotel dismesso. Struttura ricavata da un ex macello

Location molto accogliente, ben tenuta, camere confortevoli, ristorante molto apprezzato e servizio curato. Parcheggio riservato e comodo. Gestori molto comprensivi e attenti alle esigenze.

A pochi passi dal centro città, offre camere spazuose pulite e ben insonirizzate. I prezzi sono corretti e il personale è gentile e preparato. Sicuramente un ottimo posto per fermarsi a Casale Monferrato.

Sono stato più volte al Candiani e lo consiglio assolutamente, sia per la qualità delle stanze e del servizio, sia per l'eccellente ristorante del medesimo Hotel che propone piatti della tradizione piemontese ma con uno sguardo all'innovazione

Agradable, buen trato. Habitaciones limpias y confortables. Las habitaciones son silenciosas, tienen vistas a un jardín interior propiedad del hotel.

Bell' albergo, molto comodo al centro città. Ottimo anche il ristorante La Torre all' interno.

Consiglio per questo periodo il Delivery, prodotti buonissimi, impiattamento stupendo nonostante sia l'asporto. Tutto direi molto eccezionale, ho trovato molta gentilezza anche nelle persone che consegnano . Grazie!

Ottima struttura Situata nel centro di casale, mi ci reco per motivi di lavoro, riunioni, ogni martedì e sono stato anche a cena presso il loro ristorante, tutto ottimo.
