La Malà

Wonderful small hotel. The views are amazing from the Hotel and from the town of Vernazza. There are a lot of steps to reach the hotel but that's typically in this area. The service was great. They met us at the train station and helped us to the hotel. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone wanting a nice quiet location to visit the Cinque Terre.

We were lucky to find an open night at La Mala when we were in town for some hiking and sightseeing. Gian was an excellent host and met us at the train station to guide us to the B&B since the passages of Vernazza can be confusing at first. Our room was amazing with windows to the patio and the water. Bed was comfortable and Vernazza was particularly amazing in the evening after the crowds dissipated. Anywhere in Cinque Terre: be ready for hundreds of steps!

My fiancé and I stayed in La Mala for the first two nights of our 2 week tour of Italy. This was the perfect place to unwind after a long day of flights and trains. We were met at the train station with a smile and an umbrella and guided to the front door of La Mala. I am very grateful for this added service, because it is difficult to find places in Cinque Terre when you've only just arrived and not accustomed to the town.

The room was spacious and had a wonderful view of the town. The bed was comfortable and the windows were great for a cross breeze at night. Getting in and out during our stay was very easy and efficient.

Probably the cherry on top was the private balcony that La Mala has on the back of the property. Truly an experience you will not find elsewhere. I wish it had been warmer but we made the best of it and enjoyed wine on the balcony while the sunset. Highly recommend.

Our stay at La Malà was excellent. Climbing the winding stairs of Vernazza, viewing the castle from our room, waking to bells in the morning and enjoying incredible views of the coast from the terrace. Our room was clean, modern and comfortable. La Malà is a very unique guest house.

Superb experience at La Mala! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. Everything was great. Gian met us at the top of the village and helped bringing our luggage to the room. As we were walking down, he was telling us some history of the village and gave us some great recommendations to what to do and how to get around Cinque Terre. He was also very responsive over WhatsApp, and helped with booking restaurant reservations, boat tour, and transportation back to our car (btw, don't drive there like we did, just take the train). Stay at room 31. Gorgeous views of the ocean, specious, clean and welcoming. We watched the sunrise from the patio, and had a bottle of wine watching the sunset. La Mala is central to Vernazza, and very close to the beach and many of the restaurants the village has to offer. All in all it's a real hidden gem. Even though the village can get extremely busy (as it's the most beautiful our the five - in our opinion), the room and patio offered a quiet space to get away from the craziness and recharge. so go book it now, really.

Very charming place, the terrasse overlooking the sea has a breathtaking view and the best sunset. Room was very clean and we had a nice view of the castle, a glimpse of the sea and the village !

The owner Gian Is such a nice man, he came to meet us at the train station to help with the bags and show us the way to the property,
Vernassa is a bit of a maze of stairs and tiny alleys so we we happy to have him guide us :-)

We will definitely come back !

Fantastic experience! The climb is worth it - the proprietors are very helpful getting you settled from the train station. Our room was absolutely fantastic - one of the highlights of our month in Italy.

Absolutely top notch! Most beautiful, clean, well appointed rooms with the most amazing view. We didn’t want to leave the room, it was that gorgeous! Gian was so helpful and met us at the top of the town to show us in. It was a truly unforgettable experience. Breakfast (included) at the Blue Marlin is fabulous as well. Couldn’t be more perfect! If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! This is the most beautiful hotel room I have ever stayed in (room 31). I was actually booked for another room but asked Gian the owner to let me know if there was a cancellation for room 31. It was well decorated, crisp, clean and bright. The shared terrace was amazing with the incredible view and often empty, so I really got to enjoy my time out there. Gian carried my bags to and from the station (including after I stored my bags after checkout to explore for the day). I can’t wait to bring my boyfriend or family back here!

If I could give this place six stars I would. The place is immaculate and the best location. It’s quiet and off the street perched on the cliffs. The beds and linens are very comfortable and they did such a good job accommodating our family. The shampoos and soap were very high end made just for La Malà. The owner helped us set up a boat tour with the nicest man to see all the villages. The shared balcony is beautiful. The owners are so nice and friendly! We can’t wait to travel back and stay again. Make sure to get take out one night and eat on the terrace. I was worried we wouldn’t have enough to do in Vernazza but it was perfect for our family of five (kids 1.5, 5 & 7) the harbor was perfect for swimming, trains came often and were clean and quick. The food in the village is very good and it felt the least touristy of all the villages. Book a stay here, you’ll remember it forever. We can’t wait to come back!!

The room was furnished very beautifully, and it was very clean. Staff is extremely helpful, he even comes down the stairs to the main square of vernazza to help with luggage.
This place has a shared terrace with a wonderful view and comfy chairs, so we got aperitivos for takeaway in town and had them on the terrace, were we were alone.

This small boutique hotel is so nice! Our room seemed brand new and had a gorgeous view of the ocean. The terrace for the hotel has seating and hangs over the cliffs with a stunning view of the surrounding cliffs and sea. The family that owns the hotel is so kind and very helpful. We were extremely impressed and thankful that we stayed here

La Malà was everything we dreamed of...with stairs! Gian and Chiara were very responsive from our initial booking through the end of our stay.
The room (31) was dreamy. We had an amazing view directly to the Ligurian Sea, with the old castle fort on the right and beautiful trails of Cinque Terre on the left. The room was simple and very comfortable.
Gian met us at the train station (you cannot drive in Vernazza) promptly and carried our heavy suitcases up the 68 (yep, we counted them) stairs to La Malà. We would have never found the way on our own. Even then, I'm not sure I could have lugged our suitcases (see photo of stairs). BTW, Gian did us the same monumental courtesy on the way out.
Each day, we received breakfast vouchers at two local establishments. The breakfast was focaccia, pastry, juice and coffee.
The town itself is idyllic. You can take the train to other towns but we decided to stay here and enjoy its charms. That said, you should expect a lot of tourist to visit your seaside get-away. The world is travelling again and Vernazza - and La Malà - are not to be missed.

We have stayed here two other times and when we left we said we hope we get to come back yet again. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in the Cinque Terre. The rooms, quiet, relaxed elegance, terrace and hosts can't be beat. Gian knows exactly what customers need and the tone/approach are helpful and friendly while giving guests their space.

Wonderful location, gorgeous views, and perfect room that had everything we needed to enjoy a coffee in the morning, or a bottle of wine in the evening.

This was an amazing place in Vernazza. After Gian helped us get our bags up to the room, we were treated to a wonderful view and comfortable room. This was a wonderful place to spend a couple nights and I recommend highly!
